On Friday, February 13th, the legendary heavy metal band, IRON MAIDEN will screech into Dubai for the start of the fourth leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour. Their chosen mode of transport will be Ed Force One, the specially-refitted and liveried Boeing 757 (named after the band's mascot, Eddie). At the controls will be the band's front man Bruce Dickinson, who is also a commercial pilot.

We take a look at some of the mind-boggling stats involved in their year-long world tour.

- The tour, which started in Mumbai in February 2008, has so far covered five continents

- The band have travelled approximately 50,000 miles around the globe

- Ed Force One can carry up to 72 people, including band members, their families and crew

- 2008 saw them play to 1,416,343 fans in 64 cities in 26 countries

- 2009 will see them play in a further 19 venues in 11 countries, bringing the total number of spectators worldwide to 2 million

- Each show requires 12 tonnes of stage set and equipment

- Almost all of the sixteen-track set-list comes from their 1980s back catalogue

- In September 2008, commercial pilot Bruce Dickinson lept into the fray whilst on holiday to fly home 221 holiday makers stranded in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh after their holiday company went bust

- Iron Maiden's current record sales number 80 million

- By the time the tour ends on March 31 in Recife, Brazil, Iron Maiden will have played almost 2100 concerts over a period of 33 years
