Maiden Nominated for Classic Rock Magazine Awards
3news.co.nz reports:Veteran rockers AC/DC and Iron Maiden are to go head-to-head for the honour of best band in the world in Classic Rock magazine’s 2009 awards.
AC/DC are nominated in three categories - Band of the Year, Event of the Year, and Album of the Year for their disc Black Ice.
Iron Maiden are also up for Band of the Year, alongside Metallica, Faith No More, and Kings of Leon.
The ‘Run To The Hills’ hitmakers will also compete for the Film of the Year prize, going up against Kiss, The Rolling Stones, and Neil Young.
Reformed spoof rock act Spinal Tap are nominated in the Event of the Year category, while newcomers The Parlor Mob receive nods for Best New Band and Album of the Year.
The winners will be announced at Classic Rock’s Roll of Honour 2009 ceremony in London in November.
