When you'll come back to Russia again?
Sergey
Russia

We tried this time but it didn't work out. Russia needs good reliable promoters who wish to work with rock/metal. At present for big gigs this is not easy

Is the new Maiden live album/DVD from the MSG show?
Imran
New York

No

Why aren't the band touring Australia??? There was absolutely no promotion for Brave New World downunder and yet it still managed to reach no.33 on the mainstream chart. The album and single were both positioned at no.1 on the rock charts, all this without promotion. No tour after Bruce repeatedly promised is a kick in the face, and no tour in 8 years is even worse. You managed to add another Japan date i see, well i can tell you that you'd be doing the same for aussie dates if you saw how well they'd sell. All you need is a decent timeslot for a commercial and BANG, atleast 10,000 in Melbourne if not 15,000. Whats your problem, it cant be because Australia ddint vote in the world cup which meant that it went to Germany. Or is it? Whats the damn problem?!!!
Steve G
Melbourne, Australia

What can l say - we all love oz and personally l was longing to get down there again having spent time there in the past. I was at Twickenham last Saturday for the rugby - NOT leagues! - and it was tremendous to be on the right side of the result. Sometimes with tours it does not work out as you wish due to many variables, especially with far flung places like Australasia. We do want to get there next time but l understand if you don't want us. But don't blame the band - l tried to put it together in the right way and failed sadly

Rod, Are there any plans on Sanctuary releasing Adrian's A.S.A.P. album?
John Farrell
Arlington, VA USA

It's out in the USA and should be available in Eddies Megastore for everyone else

Why doesnt Iron Maiden make an live album with Blaze Bayley in lead vocals? I never listen him on stage.
Luis Alberto Arenas Suescun
Colombia

Probably because Blaze is no longer in the band - didn't you know? Blaze's band BLAZE will be touring Europe early next year so watch out for it.

Will there be a "2nd ten years" box set? the first set was great it would also be great to release another video of videos (Bring Your Daughter to Wicker Man)
Martin Wood
Essex

Variations on this are in the works

I think you're right man to answer this question so: Why didn't you use your full stage-equipment on the Ruisrock-show?
Alchemist
Finland

This is a festival and staging etc is provided by the festival and sometimes this implies limits on production due to height to lights (so we cant fit in wicker man) and stage width which affects production. We always put in as much s we can - lets face it, its daft carrying all this stuff round with us but not using it

Hey Rod are you happy with BNW US sales, it seems to me they're not exciting Thanks and beast wishes
Matteo
Italy

I think gold in Italy is great - and many other places

Which new metal bands do you like? I won't ask this to band members...they won't answer 'coz they're musicians...
MetalDreamer
Italy

Of course Halford and COC and silver ginger 5 and spiritual beggars and many others!!!!

Will be any little tour in the next year or the boys will have a rest until their next album?
Szabolcs Andrási
Hungary

No touring next year

Why you had to cancel show in Anchorage, Alaska? Transportation problems?
Maiden Alaska
Anchorage, Alaska

This was NEVER confirmed by me - it was offered but the distance was just too great to get there and back for the shows we had already announced. This was a late offer and if you heard about it it means the promoter must have announced it which was bullshit

You should change your record company in Australia and New Zealand, because EMI Australia and EMI NZ, did not do anything for BNW, There are still a lot people, who don't know, that BNW is out and Bruce and Adrian are back in Maiden. No BNW advertisements in magazines or radio.
Michael

We are with emi for the world outside usa and generally speaking they do well by us but there are always some markets which don't deliver for you. Having said that despite their personal lack of interest in metal they did something at least. They keep saying metal is not happening in oz. What do you think??

I had heard that Iron Maiden's management cancled after show meet & greets. I was really disappointed to hear that since i was hoping to get to meet my favorite band in person. Was it because the shows have been so close together, & will there be meet & greets @ future shows?
Bob

This is absolute bollocks - we did meet and greets at practically every show. However for obvious reasons these are not "open houses" as you can't fit everyone in. and meet and greets are always before the show never after, as the band need to wind down after the gig

Rod, Is true that Todd Mcfarlane Productions wants to do a line of toys of Iron Maiden, especially, of Eddie? They made toys of Kiss, Ozzy, could also make toys of Maiden. What do you think?
Bruno Trindade Oliveira João Pessoa
BRAZIL

Great idea

Hey Rod, when is the band planning to come to Florida?
Alex Veliz
Florida

Not this time round l'm afraid - we cant get everywhere and just didn't get time this time around.
Hopefully next time

Rod, why doesn't Maiden make an album with covers, with orchestra or an MTV Umplugged? Did you already think of that?
Bruno Trindade Oliveira João Pessoa
BRAZIL

I think our fans prefer studio albums and the occasional live. Maiden unplugged - we'd have to be to do it

Rod, why does Maiden always play the same set-list in all the shows? Why don't play different music? The same music all time is very bad. They could play Phantom of the Opera, Children of the Damned, Wasting love, Run to the Hills and other...
Bruno Trindade Oliveira João Pessoa
BRAZIL

There is an awful lot we could play l agree. But we take the right new songs and classics we feel the fans wish to hear and songs the band particularly like playing and fit them together to make a set which works. This is then the best set for that tour and that is what we play. There is no point keeping changing every night as the overall impact of the gig would be lessened and Maiden is a very high-impact band

Iron Maiden is my favorite band, my question is why aren't singles or videos being sold in U. S. stores.
Mike L.
Dallas

There is no single market for us in the usa - we don't get airplay - that is why we make them available in the web for those who want them. Some videos are available and the rest will be back soon

Why is the chorus in the video for "Wicker Man" slightly different from the way it sounds on the album? Is this version available for sale as a single?
Eric Futterman
New Jersey, USA

This was another version used in the states and we thought it worked for the video

Rod, when the band are on tour, do you also go on tour with them? If so, what do you do during that time you are with them? Thanks!
Kolt Green
Davidsville, PA

I go out for all the good bits or when l need to link up with the record company and also the first week or so of all tours to make sure everything is working properly and if not to beat up the crew!!! On the road most of my time is spent doing bloody emails

Rod, when will the band be doing a full U.K tour again? I had a great time in London and will see them again in Glasgow but would dearly love to see them play Aberdeen Exhibition Centre.
Craig Smith
Aberdeen,Scotland

Not for a while

How good are Nicko & Bruce as pilots? Are they okay, or does flying with them fill you with dread?!?!
Dave Page
North Vancouver, Canada

Bruce is very qualified - twin engine and instructor. He has a lot of flying hours especially after the last 2 tours. Nicko is qualified single engine but has flown very little these last few years - probably due to golf which he is very good at

How do you and the band go about choosing tour venues? For example, why was the Tacoma show in Tacoma, as opposed to, say, Seattle?
Michael Clauss
Seattle

Although l have been to many gigs around the world l don't know them all so rely on the promoter in the area and the agent to come up the best play for us in that area. Reasons behind choice vary and l couldn't tell you offhand why Tacoma was chosen, but we like standing arenas and Tacoma was good.

Hi Rod. Will the planned Live DVD/CD be recorded and filmed in a manner more Live After Death or
more like the later live videos/albums?
Chris Callahan
New Castle, PA

Down to the director and how Steve sees the edit

Hi Rod, We're a band called False Prophet. We've just made a demo tape, could we have an address for Sanctuary music to send it to, or to yourself or anyone else you recomend?
False Prophet
Leicester

Nick mallinson@sanctuary

Rod, when the south american dates will be announced?
João Alberto
Brazil

Sorry l am so late doing this - been busy!! They are announced now

Does the band have any forth-coming film projects? I have been a fan for years and have seen the band twice in concert ('88 an '91) and think that an iron maiden film would be a worth while project.
patrick gaebelein
ft. lewis, wa

What sort of film - do you want us to act!! Maybe bruce but l don't think the others would be interested

Hello Rod. What do you think the future will bring for Iron Maiden ??? (Hope you can understand my english *smile*)
Jens Dahlgaard
Denmark

More fun - we will stop when we stop enjoying it all

DEAR ROD: WILL THE BAND COME TO ARGENTINA ?? HOW MUCH MUST I PAY FOR THE BAND TO COME ?? HUH ?? PLEASE COME TO ARGENTINA !!!! THANKS I´LL INVITE SOME BEERS, DRINKS, BUBBLY, ETC.
GUILLE, THE BASS PLAYER
ARGENTINA

Yes - check the website

Which is your craziest memory with the band? Rock on...
Niclas Hagström
Sweden

Which one - too long a story

Will the megastore be selling the football shirt that Steve Harris has been wearing on tour? See you in Bakersfield...
STRANGERBEYOND
Los Angeles, CA

They are now

Rod, Why no Edmonton date? It was there, then removed. Broke my heart. We haven't seen Maiden since No Prayer. I'm starting to give up hope.
Jason
Edmonton, Canada

Again we tried to fit in western Canada - my sister lives in Edmonton so l have good reason - nothing was ever confirmed so again rumours and leaks. Always go on what you see on the web - as soon as something is confirmed it is posted there. If its not there its not on

I have heard recently that a Big English Band is coming back to play in Malta. Could this be Iron Maiden ??????
Edwin Micallef
MALTA

We played there before but its not us this time

I would like to know why Iron Maiden has not released the previous video: LIVE AFTER DEATH-WORLD SLAVERY TOUR? Is there any way of purchasing it? And also, I just got from the U.S. the DVD: Raising Hell. Do you know if Maiden will be releasing any more DVDs?
Tony Talarico
Toronto, Ontario/Canada

Live after death should be available again soon - it is in most countries but not in some as EMI have pretty well stopped distributing videos so we are working on a different system. Yes there will be dvd's in the future

Hiya Rod, How do the band, and you as their manager, feel about the Napster thing ... and also the MP3 explosion on the net ... we've all heard about what that inferior 'rock' band M*&!*^%$"A had to say ... but like everything they do it just doesn't make sense!! :) Many Thanks Again ... cya in Glasgow (any chance to meet the band??) :) UP THE IRONS !!!
Alan
Glasgow, UK

Can be a pain in the ass but again it can spread good new music. However a fair system needs to be worked out as bands need to live. Briefly this is it - the long form is too long for here

Rod, There's some talk of a B-side compilation. Will it happen during Maiden's year off, later, or was it cancelled?
BITV
New York

Lets see

Hey Rod, what's the most difficult task you have to undertake as Maiden's manager?
BITV
New York

Doing q&a's

I heard than Iron Maiden will play in São Paulo in 7 October , at Pacaembu Stadium. Is it true?
Bruno
Brazil

This just shows how long its taken me to do this - sorry. See you at rock in rio jan 19

Rod, I started a campaign to get Maiden to play Venezuela this year. We signed a`petition an create the only venezuelan fansite, so...Are you going to come to Venezuela?
Gus
Venezuela

One day l am sure but as it is so tight between new year and rio we couldn't get there this time

How much is it up to you to determine where the band plays and how much does it depend on the promoters, sales, geography, etc.?
Max
Michigan

All of it - we plan it then discuss with agent who then goes to promoters to see if our plan can be implemented. In some cases - as with Australasia this time - it couldnt

Are Maiden going to come Down Under on this tour?
Jeremy Groffen
Adelaide Australia

See other answers but no sorry

So what happened to your confirmed date of Sept 24 in Calgary? You had it listed on this website. They announced it in the local newspaper. Now it has just disappeared. I am very upset. There are a lot of hardcore Maiden fans in Calgary who have been dying to see you again for a long time. Several friends and I have been die hard fans right from the start. Hell, we even supported you through your string of shitty albums throughout the 90's with that tone deaf, no vocal range Bruce wanna be, Blaze Bailey. I had Brave New World The minute the record store opened on the day it came out. Everyone I talked to was really stoked about seeing you guys on this tour and now it looks like we are getting passed by again. Well, if you pass us by we will all be really upset. Please don't forget about your fans on the great prairies of Canada. We love you guys! Please let me know if there are any plans at all to visit our beautiful city on this tour. Your devoted, if somewhat dejected, fan, Brian UP THE IRONS!!!!!
Brian Wells
Calgary Alberta Canada

As Edmonton response l don't know how this was announced as l never confirmed it - we tried to fit it in at the end of north America tour but in the end couldn't. sadly we cant be responsible for papers going with unconfirmed reports - but as we all know they do it all the time. We are always evaluating options and the best way to keep everyone happy but it doesn't come together every time. And l have family in victoria and edmonton

hello rod, as a fan from a country that has only a handful of die hard maiden fans, is there ever going to be a concert in asia apart from japan in the near future? (i can get to any asian country but japan, visa problems) up the irons!!!!!!
olsen almeida
karachi, Pakistan

hope so

Has the video VISIONS OF THE BEAST ever been released? (If not: why not?)
Chief Mike
Germany

No and it never was scheduled - there will be stuff you hopefully will like next year

how many platinum records have maiden from the states and how well did x factor and virtual x1 sell in america
uncle blue

8 - and no they didn't sell as well as previous albums but so what

Hey Rod, what has been the biggest audience that Maiden has played for in their whole career?
David De Vito
Miami FL

Rock in rio 85 - 200,000 or so . also donington 88 to over 100,000

can you make a video-documentary about the band?, one that have all the history since 1976 until present, in 2, 3 or 4 video cassettes with interviews, original back stage videos, memories, and personal stuff from all the band members? (I and 20 millions of fans be really please if you do!)
Juan Carlos Zúñiga Rodríguez
Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico

part one was 12 wasted years video

Why maiden haven't promotion in US TV, programs like MTV, VH1, etc., i see many shows about bon jovi, metallica, etc. but no one aboout maiden.
Juan Carlos Zúñiga Rodríguez
Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico

Cos they don't love us as much or we don't get radio so they are not that interested or......maybe mtv doesn't support rock music - and it doesn't - however VH1 do pretty well by us overall

What do you think of the song Sherrif of Huddersfield?
Christian Solem
Norway

Depends on whether l am sober or not... more to the point what do you think.

What do you think made Brave New World an instant classic? Is this a new more mature and business Maiden or where they able to recapture some of that youthful creativity of their early classics?
Steve Holbrook
San Diego

Actually l think both added to the mix to make it special - classic maiden with a modern mature touch

It must be much more easy to be Maiden manager now than in the early days? Or do you miss the excitement getting gigs or not? (do you know any good agency looking for new bands?)
Ole Henrik Halvorsen
Hamburg

No its harder - in the eighties l had 5 kids now l have 10 - band inc!!! l still go to loads of gigs, probably 30-40 on this tour - and l still love it. And finally helter skelter

Why don't you sell through the IMFC mag. items that are NOT avalaible on the web site? Special recordings, unplugged, cd dedicated?
Etienne MAZAY
belgium

Ask laz at the fan club - but there are special items and designs for fc only

Can you give us the REAL answer as to why you decided to skip the entire southeast of the US. There are some great venues down here. A real shame for your fanbase.
Pete
Georgia

God some of you guys are more the businessman than l ever will be - fanbase?? Do you mean the fans we would love to play for but if we only wish to tour for 6 months or so rather than a year some areas will miss out by definition, and it's part of my job to get the band in front of as many of their fans as possible, hence big venues, festivals etc. We love touring but we all also have families we wish to see, so we are not gonna go on the road forever like 10 years ago. Sorry but that's the way it is and sorry you missed out. And isn't fanbase a rather impersonal term used by music biz people who also talk about demographics? We are simple - we just have fans, certainly not fanbases

Among other things, what is the greatest thrill about working with Maiden?
Marica Jakobsson
Manchester

Great real people, great music, love to see the world and l even get paid for it. I'm very lucky but at least l appreciate that

Pertaining to your job responsibilities, how much say does the band have in regards to production, schedules, dates, etc. and where do you come in and tell them like it is?
Andy Clark
Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA

A lot on production and schedules - it is their show and their lives. Not as much on specifics as they are happy to leave that to me

EMI has now released CD singles box sets from bands like the Beatles and Marillion. Any plans for a Maiden singles box? They seem like an obvious choice.
Mike Ladano
Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA!

Been there, done that in 89 - too soon for another

Rod,Why don`t you think to tour in Middle East ??? Why ?
The__Trooper
Out Of The Silent Planet !

They wont let us in - they think we are too dangerous to their youth. Same in china and parts of se asia. Its true

Why are Iron Maiden not playing Newcastle Upon Tyne on this tour as we have the venues. Is there any chance of a live video/dvd of this tour to come out in time for christmas also any chance of videos of last tours with Blaze to come out.
cheers Michael Wharton
Prudhoe,Newcastle,England

Again Newcastle is part of our heritage, we have had many great gigs there and my partner andy is Geordie but we cant please everyone

Hi Rod! When will the Rockwave gig will be made up? Will it be or we went crazy for nothing? Halford will be playing with Maiden only in the UK tour or in the rest of Europe, too? Glad asking you, too. (only Janick missed)
George Papantonis
Moschato, Athens, Greece

Already has - again sorry this is so late

Now you know I had a fantastic time at Earl's Court, but I still think the UK has been treated in a haphazard fashion regarding gigs. Nothing after the reunion, one indoor show after the album and now a very mini tour at the end of it all. Why couldn't the UK either had a proper festival, or a proper tour? Cheers Rod.
Samirnoff
London

To be honest whereas many countries stuck with us in the mid nineties when things were tough for metal the uk didn't. it's a real shame for real fans but l think the uk got a fair proportion of the tour bearing this in mind. Now metal and maiden is back l would like to do more shows next time. Again we just want to play to as many real fans as possible in the tour period we decide on, and l think overall we did live up to that responsibility. but it can be tough on fans in some parts l know, and we do know that, but there is little we can do about it except remember that next time

Hello Rod... could you tell us a bit about the upcoming live-album? Will it be recorded at one or more venue(s)? Thanks for answering. Cheers!
Aad Oliehoek
Holland

no

Rod, I´ve been hearing these nasty rumours that MAIDEN are going to quit and that this current tour is their last one! Please say that this isn´t true and that the band is just going to take a year-long break? cheers ironsoul
Patrick
SWEDEN

This in absolutely not true - we take a longish break then think about the new album and l guarentee you there will be one - as l said before as long as the fans want us and we enjoy it there will be an iron maiden

we are maiden fans from greece! Last time you didn't come to the rockwave festival in Athens because of that sad incident of Gers. The question that comes to the mind of all of us is if you are returning to Greece make all of your favorite Greek fans loose their metal minds! And don't forget that Greece is the place that Brave New World became (only here) GOLD!! UP THE IRONS!
amanatidis sokratis
Thesaloniki, Greece

We kept our promise and returned as you know.

" Hey Rod, Im another of the new generation of fans unfortunetly from australia. I really cannot understand how IRON MAIDEN continually for years pretend our continent just doesn't exist. I realise that these "many variables" (whatever they are) could bring a tour into question but we will continue to wait until you manage to succeed in "putting it together". I would definely not blame the band nor you, if you didn't , I would be just as disapointed as anyone else who is deprived of being able to see the greatest heavy metal band ever. I guess many people around the world would like too see Iron Maiden too, but Im trying to get this message across, Im not the only Australian who wants to see Iron Maiden to come DOWN UNDER, for some kind of Eddie Goes Down Under Tour. So I'll leave you with the statement "ITS ABOUT TIME". Good luck and hope to cya soon. Ben Larcombe "
