Another Rainmaker review

on November 24, 2003 @ 02:27

Iron Maiden - Rainmaker (EMI)
release date: 24 November 2003

A marked return to form for the men who were living metal legends before Fred Durst had his first tattoo. Rainmaker is far from an original piece of songwriting, but who wants a dog to learn new tricks when it can take the Crufts trophy year after year, jumping through the same hoops?

Opening with a lead lick that sums up the existence for bands like In Flames within all of five seconds, Rainmaker is classic Maiden. Driving power chords steam their way through a verse laced with searching questions into a chorus thats only fault is that it wasn't recorded with the whole arena screaming along in unison.

With a new world tour fast approaching, expect this track to be a set highlight, slipped in somewhere between The Evil That Men Do and Fear Of The Dark.

Alot of Maiden tracks do sound similar, because thats how Maiden sound when they play together as a band, however every Maiden album has a different feel to it and a whole new vibe as well which is just brilliant. Iron Maiden jumping though the same hoops? Have you heard Dance of Death? Honestly, if Maiden changed on every album like Metallica does, I woul'nt like em'. The fact that Maiden sound the way they do and keep that beautiful Maiden-metal sound is what brings the fans back every time. c,mon people....there will only be 1 Iron Maiden. Thats it! They are one of those bands that carry that spark that can never be replaced by any band ..ever. Iron Maiden are the true metal gods. They kept it goin. They never took 10 year breaks and shit like that, they just kept that train rolling and that my friends is rare and mostly unheard of these days. I've been a satisfied Maiden fan for 16 years now and I have to say, there is no other band I rather look up to. I'm 25 years old and will be a Maiden fan forever, I mean shit, I have their logo tattood on my back for life..ha! Up the Irons and may they stay up for a long time to come. Iron Maiden 4-life! cool.gif

(By the way, I will be at all 4 gigs at the Hammerstein Ballroom in January for the DOD tour in New York City! Front row baby!!) headbang.gif
