Blaze comments on new live album

on February 12, 2003 @ 04:22

BLAZE’s first Live album, As Live As It Gets, will be released through SPV on March 24th. The disc is produced by Andy Sneap (NAPALM DEATH, MACHINE HEAD).

Frontman Blaze Bayley comments on the album: "We are live at our best, so we used the opportunity and recorded our Tenth Dimension Tour in England and Switzerland. We thought that the set list is very interesting and that we filled an album. You hear our version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Dazed And Confused’, our interpretation of ‘X-Factor’ and ‘Virtual XI’ and our most favorite songs taken from Silicon Messiah and Tenth Dimension.”

The tracklisting: CD1 - ‘Speed Of Light’, ‘Two Worlds Collide’, ‘Steel’, ‘Kill & Destroy’, ‘End Dream’, ‘Stare At The Sun’, ‘Land Of The Blind’, ‘Silicon Messiah’ and ‘Dazed & Confused’. CD2 - ‘Virus’, ‘The Brave’, ‘Stranger To The Light’, ‘Identity’, ‘Sign Of The Cross’, ‘Futureal’, ‘Ghost In The Machine’, ‘Born As A Stranger’ and ‘Tenth Dimension’.

Hmm....sorry i like Blaze but he cant match his studio recordings live. Maybe the mood and the atmosphere is better, but Blaze cant hit the notes live.

Didn't they have to do one of the songs twice because of a fire-bell going off during the song? They had to play it again so the bell wasn't in the song! The bell version would make a cool b-side or a good Japanese bonus-track... wink.gif

Yeah they played it again at the end of the gig instead of "Launch" but Bayley stuffed up the lyrics lol so the final version is a bizare but well edited mix of Dudley, Z7 and rehersals lol

PRESS RELEASE………As Live As It Gets…………………U.S.A…………………….

You know Blaze Bayley, don’t you?  He fronted British metal band ‘Wolfsbane’, who released four albums of unrelenting raw energy and attitude between 1989 and 1993.  Blaze was then chosen to take over as the frontman of one of the world’s greatest bands, Iron Maiden.  He was the lead singer for five years, during which time he recorded two albums, the ‘X-Factor’ (1995) and ‘Virtual XI’ (1998).  Since parting company with Iron Maiden in early 1999, Blaze Bayley has put his own band together called B L A Z E.  They have written and recorded two studio albums, ‘Silicon Messiah’ (2000) and ‘Tenth Dimension’ (2002), and have toured extensively in Europe and South America.

This latest album from B L A Z E, ‘As Live As It Gets’, as it’s name suggests, is a live album.  It was produced by Andy Sneap (one of the hottest names around in the world of metal– Machine Head, Napalm Death, Stuck MoJo and Fozzy among others) at Backstage Studios (Ripley, England).

“We are at our best when we play live, so we took the opportunity to record our gigs in Switzerland and the U.K. during the Tenth Dimension Tour.  We felt that the set we did on that tour was really special, and we should make it into an album.  There’s our bastardised metal version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Dazed and Confused, some Wolfsbane, our own interpretation of a few songs from X-Factor and Virtual XI, and our favourite tracks from Silicon Messiah and Tenth Dimension”, says Blaze Bayley.

The release of the new album coincides with the band’s first gig in the U.S.A. at the ‘March Metal Meltdown’ in Irvington, New Jersey, on March 8th 2003.  Blaze says, “We are really excited.  For the first time, this band has the chance to play for American Metal Fans, and we just can’t wait”.

Silicon Messiah and Tenth Dimension will be released in U.S.A. and Canada on February 25th 2003 by SPV Steamhammer/Navarre.  As Live As It Gets will be released on April 28th 2003.
