After 2 hours of non-stop hits, Iron Maiden close the first day of Download in style.
A new 15ft 'Eddie' made an appearance walking around the stage waving to the crowd wearing a crown befitting Iron Maidens status as Gods of rock.
They’ve never sounded better with Bruce Dickinson’s powerful voice blasting through songs from ‘The Number Of The Beast’ as if his life depended on it.
Highlights included the capacity Donnington Download crowd singing along to ‘Fear Of The Dark’ and the extended version of ‘Run To The Hills.’ One new song appeared half way through the set and was received warmly but not as well as the more familiar material.”
