Maiden Might Stop Touring by 2008 / New DVD ?
In an interview with the Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet conducted prior to the band's gig in Stockholm on Friday (Nov. 14), IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson revealed that the long-running heavy metal group will cease all touring activities in five years and will concentrate solely on recording and releasing studio albums."That will have to do," Dickinson said. "[At that point] we will be too old [to continue touring], and we will have to settle for just making albums.
"I still love the musical side of [being in IRON MAIDEN], but I don't appreciate being away from my family [for long periods of time]," he continued. "It goes up and down — there is no set formula for how to stay motivated."
In other news, IRON MAIDEN guitarist Dave Murray revealed during an online chat with the readers of Aftonbladet that plans exist for the band to issue a new live album or DVD prior to the release of the next studio album. No further information is available at this time.

Pretty sad they'll stop their live shows in 2008 
(hope I'll get see em till that).
Then, the DVD - good idea, but I think they are releasing too much live and best of albums (I think they should try something else, something new, except of releasing studio, live and best of albums. Im not bashing them, I love them).
In conclusion:
Long Live Iron Maiden! (though they'll stop touring in 2008).
And hope they'll continue as long as it cans.

edit: Btw, do you read the comments on the blabbermouth page about the things bruce said. (What a bunch of assholes!) someone that is registered there should say something to those creeps!.
One potential upside of not touring is without spending half their time on the road, they may be able to create new albums faster. It'd be great to see them put out a new record at least every other year ... or even return to their early-80s pace of one new album a year!
(I know, that probably won't happen. Don't remind me; just let me dream...)

Yeah we want studio albums till they are at least 65. 
But personally I don't want Maiden to do nostalgia tours for 20 years like Rolling Stones do.

I would like it, then i would be able to see them live many times!!!!
The feeling I get from this is not that Maiden will no longer play live after 2008. Maybe (hopefully) this just means that instead of a tour, they'll just do a few live shows. A couple weeks on the road every two years?

I don't think they will stop touring in 2008, in an interview Nicko said:"I'll keep on rocking with Maiden as long as Ican". And he's the oldest one! What a drummer. This interview took place for a couple a weeks ago. My personal opinion is that Maiden won't stop touring until one of they are six feet under the ground. May it never happend!

Bruce said they won't do any more tours like this one but that they would play big out door shows on festivals in Europe.

Right, but this is still sad news for American fans like me ... I'm just hoping they play Denver on the DoD tour so I can see them one last time.
They may play a few gigs in America too.
Maby they take small tours in the area around GB, and in GB.... Like tours on 2 weeks around in Scandinavia and stuff.... Maby they finally comes to Bergen then...
