Maiden among Most Successful Recording Artists

on December 29, 2004 @ 14:55

Iron Maiden have a chance of getting in the prestigious list of the 100 most successful recording artists of all time next year.

"The Guinness British Hit Singles and Albums" book ranks artists every year according to how many weeks they have spent in the U.K. singles and albums charts.

This year, Red Hot Chili Peppers are the only new entry — making it to number 97. Guns n'Roses are among the acts who have climbed the list (they are currently at 74).

Others to stand a chance of being included next year are: Britney Spears, Eminem, Westlife and Radiohead.

The current top ten is:
1 Elvis Presley 2,463
2 Cliff Richard 1,972
3 Beatles 1,742
4 Queen 1,725
5 Madonna 1,653
6 Elton John 1,615
7 The Shadows 1,578
8 Michael Jackson 1,477
9 David Bowie 1,459
10 U2 1,402

They don't really fit in that list. Funny that I've never heard of number two.
