Maiden to Co-Headline Ozzfest with Green Day ?

on December 7, 2004 @ 13:12

Even if fake rumors are quite current these days, here's an interesting enough twist on the Ozzfest story to appear in our boards:

According to Jack Osbourne himself, Ozzfest could happen in the USA only if Iron Maiden agrees to co-headline the festival with Green Day.

Well... don't hold your breath.

Green day is Alternative not Metal. Maiden in Ozzfest would be cool but not with An alternative band. beerchug.gif

Genre labels are the enemy of an open-minded music fan. I don't care how you label either Maiden or Green Day; I like both of them (although I like Maiden much more, obviously) and wouldn't mind seeing a concert with both of them.

People who worry about what is the definition of true metal and whether any particular band fits that definition are wasting time. If you like something, who cares what it's called by others?

Also remember that Jack Osbourne was talking about an American festival - a country where Green Day is more popular than Maiden. Just going by who's the bigger band here right now, Green Day should headline. It's a sign of respect for Maiden that they'd even be offered a co-headlining spot.

And since when did Jack Osbourne become a reliable source anyway? That's why the Saint put this in the rumors forum, of course - so let's not take it too seriously just yet.

I doubt it will happen. Personally, I think Maiden should just tour the US themselves, but I doubt it. And I don't see why Green Day will even be on Ozzfest. It's not really Ozzfest music.

please, forget
seriously
forget about green day being more popular than maiden in US. maybe they could sell a little bit more copies than IM
but
management of IM cant do such a thing that can degrade bands position in media

thats absolutely impossible as it is impossible to see pink floyd or rolling stones doing support bands to shit like ozzy osbourne or robbie williams

yes but in the US, maiden are not the floyd or the stones. They now sell almost nothing so does the back catalogue (same thing in canada). Their last show in NY and LA weren't sold out, although it was small places.

Green Day's most recent album went straight to #1 on the US charts. Maiden's most recent album barely cracked the top 20. Your allegation that album sales are nearly irrelevant is ridiculous. I have two suggestions: look up the meaning of the word "popular" in a dictionary, and start thinking before posting.

This thread is about Ozzfest, a US tour. If you have anti-US sentiments, that's your affair. But do try to pay attention to what we're talking about here.

The only reason Green Day and bands like them are more popular than Maiden in the U.S. is because so many are influenced by what MTV and the radio play. At least where I am, radio stations run songs from Green Day, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, and other bands like them into the ground! Every two hours it's the same song... We're force fed what we're supposed to like...

I can only hope that Maiden doesn't play Ozzfest... That would suck...

Yeah, i also like green day, i am going to them in amsterdam in january. And it would be a better support act then within temptation !!
I dont see the problem if maiden co- headline with them on the ozz-fest.
