What a shitty line up !! Why don't they play a "real"metal festival in germany, like Wacken, With full force, Bang your Head.
I won't travel to a festival in germany with such a line up, not to disrespect the bands that play but i think that on the festivals i mentioned, much better bands will play like Dio, Motorhead etc. etc.

That attitude doesn't make any sense to me. You know that Maiden at least is going to put on a great show, as always. And some of those other bands might surprise you with a good show, even if you aren't expecting it

Personally, if I had the money to buy a ticket and the time to go, I'd go to any festival where Maiden was playing. I don't care who the other bands are - it could even be bands I severely dislike. But I'd watch their shows anyway, just to get my money's worth out of the ticket.

I think its funny ... Just "trace your way back 20 Years" ;-) .... when Iron Maiden was supporting Kiss .... and now they play together again :-)

And well ... again ... there will play more than 75 bands.....

Alright guys, I'll tell you what Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park is. It's a very overblown commercial festival hosting mainly pop, rock and hip hop acts, and one or two metal bands to have "something for everyone". I was there last year, and though I enjoyed it (mostly because of Judas Priest), because the bill was fairly good, I don't think I will ever go there again.

Iron Maiden co-headlined the festival in 2003 alongside Metallica and Linkin Park (Rock Am Ring) and Marylin Manson (Rock Im Park).

I have heard bootlegs of that Maiden show. I can't count the times Bruce shouts "I can't hear you, Nürburgring!" Why? Because there was nothing to hear. The audience was dead. Imagine 100,000 people just standing there, stiff. There was practically no audience participation despite the fact that Bruce did everything to get them involved. It was the same with the Metallica gig, which I saw on MTV (wonder, oh wonder, they actually showed a "RTTH" clip before the gig). Paying 106 Euros to stand within a crowd of zombies isn't my thing. No, thanks. I can't imagine Maiden want to play that dreadful venue again.

BTW, you can see what the people behind the festival think by making Maiden second headliners to R.E.M.

Maiden (and specially Bruce) were really happy with the Rock am Ring show. At least that's what they said two weeks later in Spain when doing interviews.
