Sales Net Sanctuary Duo £5.8m

on March 10, 2004 @ 17:39

Heres a bit of business news about Sanctuary for those that are that way inclined wink.gif

The founders of music group Sanctuary made £5.8m yesterday by cashing in share options and selling part of their stakes to US investors.

Andy Taylor, chairman of the company which manages acts ranging from Beyonce Knowles to Iron Maiden, exercised an option to buy almost 900,000 shares at 20p a share, then sold them immediately at 53p a share. In total he sold almost a third of his holding - more than 5m shares - raising £2.86m.

Co-founder Rod Smallwood, who oversees the group's artist services operation, exercised options to buy more than 335,000 shares at 20p and a further 530,000 shares at 24.5p, which he sold along with a further stake, raising £2.93m.

A source close to the company said: "Andy and Rod built the company up over 25 years. This is only the second time they have sold any of their shares."

He added: "This was an opportunity to attract investors from the US."

Yeah I posted a link in general discussion a couple of days ago. Have you noticed that the headlines update automatically too? Very clever. Though I do worry about how it works and whether it has a bad effect on our sever

Saw that. Very clever indeed.

As for the load on the server, it depends how the creator updates its link. I bet it's automatic, so let's just hope it's not too asking for your server.

You could ask and if it's too heavy, you could just propose the creator a direct link with your own applet which updates the main maidenfans.com page.

Emailed him a couple of days ago, got a reply and he said its automatically generated whenever someone opens his site. I just don't know how it gets that info without accessing our database

I have serious doubts about this automatic generation. There's nothing on the source, which could only mean that the HTML source is created automatically as someone logs in (it's possible). However, ironmaiden.com, his other source of news, has news that are spread and not numbered linearly, which would create huge hurdles in the automation of the update.

So, maybe the guy is just updating his site on a very regular basis with alerts coming as soon as the Ironmaiden.com and Maidenfans.com main page change.

Nah he's not. I posted a topic called "test" in the news forum the other day and went and checked and it was listed there straight away. Deleted topic and headline dissapeared.
I'm interested mostly because I might use that myself for IronMaiden.com and planetblaze.com or something

I thought about doing the same tonight, but you've already done it. Must be some kind of class app which automatically generates the right HTML. Hope that he will be kind enough to direct you on this. Otherwise, we should maybe look for ressources on the web, it should be documented somewhere.

Cheers
