Dragonforce to Support Iron Maiden on Some Dates

on February 7, 2005 @ 20:18

London-based "extreme power metal" band Dragonforce have announced the first of their major summer live appearances with Iron Maiden. The dates are as follows:

May 29 - Mystic Festival @ Stadium Slaski - Chorzow, POL
Jun. 11 - Gods Of Metal Festival @ Parco Nord Open Air Arena - Bologna, ITA
Jun. 21 - Terra Vibe - Athens, GRE

As previously reported, Dragonforce will make their debut appearance in Greece as the special guest of Angra later this month. These two shows follow Dragonforce's one-off London headline show (Feb. 21 at the Mean Fiddler) in which Angra is the main special guest, making their debut show in the U.K.

Dragonforce's second album, "Sonic Firestorm", is available now on the Noise/Sanctuary label.

Update (thanks to gor):
DragonForce will support Maiden on the Bospop festival, too. On July 3rd.

Update 2 (thanks to Dave):
DargonForce will open for Maiden in Graz on May 31, Lisbon on June 16, Lorca on June 18 and Graspop on June 26.

Since Within Temptation the other support act is pretty big in the Benelux, I guess we'll get Dragonforce too. Not that I actually know the band but the name sounds amusing.

So I WAS right when on an earlier post, I said that the Dickinson rock show, with guests Dragonforce might have meant them supporting maiden on tour... oh.... yeah that was just a guess.... blush.gif

Oh, thought i'd mention this. I was at the Mean Fiddler Dragonforce gig last night (f'ing awesome by the way) and I was told by somebody with the band that Mr Smallwood had come to check out the band. Perhaps to see how good they are as a support for maiden. Anyway, upon hearing this news i went for a walk around the fiddler looking for the man himself, perhaps have a chat with him, but i did not find him sad.gif

Also, let me point out that their support slot in Athens Greece is confirmed by this month's Metal Hammer (Greece) as well.

Dragonforce are great.Full on power metal,my bright hope for the future of uk metal.Should be a cracking concert, maiden are gonna have to be on top of there game(as they always are),as the Dfrorce are young hungry and seriously rip live.Dont slag me of guys,as i do love maiden and know they are the greatest live group ever, but i have never seen a group with as much energy and power as Dforce.Should be good what ever happens, better then funeral for a friend, and murderdolls.
