Iron Maiden to Play Hammersmith Odeon for Clive

on July 4, 2005 @ 16:53

Following the 3 sold out Brixton Academy gigs in 2002 where Iron Maiden donated the £250,000 plus profits to the Clive Burr Multiple Sclerosis Trust Fund, the fund now needs replenishing. To help do this, Iron Maiden will stage a very special benefit performance at Hammersmith Odeon on Friday 2nd September as the last concert on the Early Days tour.

Tickets are priced at £40 and available at 2 per current fan club member.

Manager, Rod Smallwood commented 'We think our fans will fully understand the need to charge a slightly higher price for this special gig - there are many things the Trust needs to do such as modifications to Clive’s house to improve wheelchair access that would make Clive more comfortable. We were really pleased that Hammersmith Apollo was available as the band have a lot of history there and great memories.'

Laz has asked that you don't ring the fan club. When you get your form you either post it or fax it back

You know what, I love Maiden and I love the fact they do stuff like this to help out Clive and MS sufferers, but I'm getting bloody sick of this sort of thing happening on every damn tour of recent memory (not the charity thing, that is good)!

I'm sick of Maiden booking a shed load of tour dates, and not announcing any UK dates. Many UK fans such as myself panic and quickly make arrangements to see the band overseas, i.e. Paris on GMETID tour, or Dublin for this tour. Then a month or so later they flaming announce UK dates, this year thay have done it with Reading/Leeds and now Hammersmith after I have forked out a small fortune to go to Dublin, they did it before in 2003 when I spend money on going ot Paris thinking there would be no UK dates, only for them to announce Download.

Oi, Smallwood, you manage a UK band, get your flaming priorities right! Book the UK dates first or at the same time as the European/American dates so I don;t keep on wasting money travelling abroad when I can see the band in my own country.

What for a gig at Hammersmith Odeon? Thats a lot more. I'd expect a small festival for £40 tongue.gif

At least, Rod has said the price hike was made for Clive. That's reasonable then.

Cheers

PS: great new avatar, RW, I wonder where you've found it tongue.gif

There is a £4.25 booking fee per ticket and £4.90 for packing and postage, I hope the profits from these surcharges also go to Clive.

Hi guys!

I am brazilian and I am in England since March. I would like to know where I can find tickets for the Hammersmith concert, me and my borther would love going to this concert.

I read on the site that they were going to be offered to the fan club members first and the rest will be sold from today on. Is there anybody who knows where I can buy it? I went to Hammersmith and the Dominion Theatre on Saturday, visited the hammersmith and ticketmaster site, called them, but nobody knows anything about the concert.

I really want to go to this concert, by far it is going to be the most exciting thing to remember (and tell my friends) when I am back to the village, oops Brazil!

Up the irons!

I'd really like to go and see this, but I'm not a fan club member sad.gif . Anyway, £40+ is a lot to pay for one ticket (especially, if like me, you've got no money). Including booking fee and p&p, you're looking at £100 for a pair of tickets!
