Maiden Reaches 22 on UK Album Charts

on September 5, 2005 @ 11:15

The latest entry into Maiden's discography, 'Death on the Road', has entered the UK album charts on place 22.

It slipped from midweeks where it stood at 16.

While being out of the Top 40 single charts for its third week, it is interesting to note that 'The Trooper' re-release had shifted 14700 copies in the UK in its first week, placing 5th.

Only 14700 copies, why not more? tongue.gif
If"Follow Me" got to number one in the UK with 20,000 sales, surley the Trooper could have sold that much.

Very true, if this was a new studio album, it could have sold 100,000 no problem. Maiden should get to number one in the album charts next year with their new effort. By the way, does anybody have any information about the name of the album, names of songs etc from nest years album?

They must have some rough versions worked out by now. Insiders close to Maiden must know something.

Even if they did track titles and album titles are usually the LAST thing they come up with. I dont know anyone who says "today I'm going to write a song called This is my Fish"

Bill Steer from Carcass said that when he was writing the Swansong album he would come up with the song titles and choruses first, but I don't know any other musicians who have worked this way.

I think it's very different how musicians write their songs. Some prefer to come up with melodys first or just lyrics. Others prefer to write the music first and then add melody.

It happens on rare occasions only. A famous example: When Aerosmith were recording the Toys In The Attic album, they took a break to go watch Young Frankenstein (then playing at the local theater). They thought the "walk this way" scene was very funny, and decided as a band that the next song they wrote would be called "Walk This Way".

Edit: I have accepted RW's unspoken challenge. I humbly present:
"This Is My Fish", by SinisterMinisterX

Verse 1:
This is my fish, and he's got a fine notion
This is my fish, he wants to swim in your ocean
This is my fish, he's gonna show you the motion
...
This is my fish, and he's takin' your bait
This is my fish, no he don't wanna wait
This is my fish, and he's never late

Chorus:
This is my fish
Come touch my fish
This is my fish
You'll love my fish

Verse 2:
This is my fish, and he likes to get wet
This is my fish, now don'tcha forget
This is my fish, no he never sweats
...
This is my fish, he's good for your brain
This is my fish, he doesn't drink champagne
This is my fish, feel him wiggle again

Chorus

Bridge:
Well my fish is only lookin' for a warm place to swim in
So he's asking for directions to a heated pool filled with women

<Guitar solo>

Verse 3:
This is my fish, he knows all his scales
This is my fish, he doesn't get e-mail
This is my fish, he's big as a whale
...
This is my fish, I know you wanna see him
This is my fish, hope you're glad to meet him
This is my fish, would you like to eat him?

Chorus
