New Rumour about Maiden in Hyde Park

on February 8, 2005 @ 15:53

Cyrus of the Maiden BB claims to have come over more information on the rumoured Hyde Park show with Maiden and Kiss co-headlining. He says that he met Val Potter, who works with Bruce on his BBC6 Rock Show, who said that Maiden will indeed play there with Motörhead and Dragonforce supporting, sometime in June 2005.

There's still no reliable source for the news so it's kept as a rumour until possible further info is uncovered.

Update:
Leeds and Reading will be the only UK dates for the current tour. Head here to learn more.

remember
that MAIDENs planned gig in Hyde Park back in 2000

but park officials deemed Maiden and their fans 'unsuitable' for the Queen's Parks.

Dickinson comments "This bureaucratic view that Metal fans are dangerously anti-social and a bad influence on the public is really quite pathetic. They obviously think our fans are going to bite the heads off the pigeons whereas Maiden fans are now much more likely to hack into their computers. Metal fans lead the high tec revolution. Its about time the Parks Commission grew up and realised this."

It'd be cool to see Maiden @ Hyde Park but it's quite impossible - the would play there during the weekend and they are already almost (still waiting for official announcement) confirmed for Reading/Leeds in August.

IMO its more possible to see Maiden in hyde park than in Reading/Leeds (which take place in august, not in june!)
next tour includes only one date/coutry

only impossible think is that Kiss would be co-headliners! maybe just a regular support. Kiss werent co-headliners even in 1988 not now when Maiden seem to be stronger than ever. (Kiss are not very popular nowadays with their neverending farewell tour - their US tour was sold only at 50%!)

see you in paris!

It sounds an awesome line up already if true, too good to be true in fact. I cant see much truth in it.

No way. Festival promoters surely paid a lot of money to get them and they have contracted Maiden and other headliners that they can't play or announce any other UK shows before the festival... When Metallica did Reading/Leeds in 2003 they didn't do any other UK shows before - they only could do a "secret" gig at Donington but no official shows. Hyde Park is such a big venue that most of the Maiden fans (not hard-core ones wink.gif ) would see them only there and wouldn't go to Reading or Leeds. Maybe the festival promoters would allow Maiden to do a special UK gig before but it'd be something really small like Hammersmith - not a big gig @ Hyde Park.

So I'm almost sure Maiden won't do Hyde Park this year (I'd love to see them there but maybe next time?) and will play at Reading/Leeds - after their short 3-4 weeks North American leg between Gothenburg and Carling Weekend in UK.
