[SPOILER] Adrian Has Left the Stage

on July 16, 2005 @ 13:33

This news contains spoiler about the current Ozzfest setlist

During 'Sanctuary', at the first Ozzfest show of the tour, Adrian got angry towards a spectator, since he apparently got hit with what looked like a cup.

At first he just pointed at the person, but then got so pissed that he threw down his guitar and left the stage during when he was supposed to be playing a solo.

He then came back shortly after and pointed at the guy and looked like he was egging him on for a fight.

Beside that, the show was great and blew Black Sabbath out of the water! More people actually came for Maiden than Sabbath! Unfortunatly, the setlist was cut down to a minimum playing only the songs that they play at every other show.

edit:

The setlist:

(Ides of March intro tape)
01. Wrathchild
02. The Trooper
03. Phantom Of The Opera
04. Revelations
05. Run To The Hills
06. Hallowed Be Thy Name
07. The Number Of The Beast
08. Iron Maiden
Encore:
09. Running Free
10. Sanctuary

By the way: the official Maiden forum is full of whining Americans at the moment.
Concerning the setlist.

That was only the first show of the tour.

Maiden's set in Hartford is 20 minutes longer, which probably means 2 more songs.

What they play today in Hartford is probably what will be played for the rest of the tour.

I hope they bring back DWYBO and MITRM or WED.

We'll see about that. I wouldn't count on it too early.

I hope for you they do though.

Well, they have to do something with those 15-20 extra minutes that they will be playing. They can't just sit there.

Thanks.

I'm anxious to find out what they do in Hartford tonight.

Hi guys.

I'm from Quebec City and i was in Boston for the 1st Ozzfest gig. My all-time favorite band is Maiden. The Maiden show was very good BUT Black Sabbath was without a doubt, THE highlight of the day, period.

The problem with Maiden was the setlist, as always. It was once again, the easy way out for the band (just like swithching Wrathchild for Charlot The Harlot, instead of another rarely performed song).

If Maiden had given their best by playing the best songs from the first four album (IE: To Tame a Land), I bet you Maiden would have blown Sabbath out of the water.

The 'Adrian Incident' reminds me of a video i saw not too long ago of a heckler during the blaze era, which made him mess up all his lines during the Trooper (i think) and almost led to blaze and 'Arry jumping into the crowd to beat him up.
unsure.gif makes you wonder why they go to see the band if they don't like them!
Would love to see some photos of the incident

It's been a houndred.....(crowd goes "boooo")...You know what, why don't I just fuckin' go home? Why don't I just go back to England, 'cause of some fuckin' shit, fuck, tosspots like you?
I fell over on this stage, 7 feet last night, it hurts like fuck, i've got bruceribs. I don't need shitheads like you, throwing fucking icecubes. Making the stage wet, fuck do it again. Fuck you and the whole(something?)
Why do you fuckin' pay money? .. Why do you pay money, to throw fucking shit at the band? Last night Adrian got hit by a beerbottle, before the intros of pachendale, which fucked him right up. Allright, so somebody down here has been a real dickhead. And it's not about one person, but five thousand. So kindly, if you think you are an Iron Maiden fan, just fuck off. Don't ever bother coming back, because the rest...
(didn't hear the last part, sorry)"

It's no wonder the Americans are so unpopular in the rest of the world, with this poor promotion.
The big question is, though- are Europeans actually different, or are such incidents simply not as well-known from the Old World? I remember reading once that Brian May got hit by a beer bottle in Dublin, and Queen pretty much messed up that gig too...

Ehm, well, during the Dance of Death-concert in Rotterdam, Holland, a "fan" threw something like a glass of beer at Bruce. Bruce isn't a great guy (in terms of heigth/length) but he was so angry that he looked huge at that moment. He did scare me. Later I heard that also a glass was thrown at Dave or H. To be honest, I don't understand the fun of this at all! (By the way, I read later that this so called "fan" met with an accident and seemed to be spotted at the first aid).

They didn't play any extra songs in Hartford that I know of. I'm about to leave to Ozzfest shortly. They still have the 8:05 to 9:30 set. I don't expect them to play any extra songs. But if they do, I'll let you all know.

I think the that the government should place micro-chips in the fuckers that throw stuff at the band (not only maiden but every other band aswell) and then they would be able to recognise them and not let them into any shows ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's an idea, ehhh???????

You can't be serious. Comparing H to an evil emperor? H is not evil. He invented evil, but he is not himself evil.

Although H could use Force Lightning if he wanted to. I think he'd be far more likely to use Force Grip if he needed to do something. It's more subtle, like the intro to Paschendale. Much more his style.

....holy shit, I just compared Star Wars to Iron Maiden.

More in the line of drinking plus primitivism. Nowadays, I'm afraid to go to a punk concert, for example, even with male company. So I don't think it has to do with nationality in the first place. Those Americans to whom it does not apply need not worry about it. smile.gif I know some.

The incident says more about Ottawa. Needless to say that haven't been back since. We are fortunate Priest is actaully going to do a show here Friday night Oct 14.
