Steve and Crew Plays Football in Norway

on June 29, 2005 @ 20:25

While the rest of the band took a day off before the second Norway show on June 29, Steve Harris, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, Nicko McBrain and the Maiden crew played football against a team of Norwegian retired footballers, rockers and ski-jumpers. The Maiden camp lost the game 1-8 after a collapse in the second half but nevertheless Steve says it was an enjoyable game.

Go here for pictures, a video and a full report. Part of it has kindly been translated by mortis:

IRON MAIDEN CRUSHED
Iron Maiden got a taste of their own medicin when a team of norwegian stars served heavy metal on the pitch.

VALLE HOVIN (TV2 Nettavisen): The hardrockers of Iron Maiden and their crew had no chance against the norwegian team in the friendly-match at Valle Hovin.

With a team put together of old national-team heroes and other celebrities, the Norwegians had no difficulties with beating the guests.

Kjell-Roar Kaasa was top-scorer with three strikes, while Steve Harris was Iron Maidens best player by far.

Could someone translate me the text. Or, at least, tell me the basics (who won 8-1 ?, when this happened ?,...).

I'll move it when I have a little more substance.

Cheers

I don't think Nicko played. And I am sure Janick didn't. He said he didn't play because he drank too much Norwegian beer the night before:) I got my autographs so I'm happy.

mortis is spelled mortis. I am mortis as I have always been. I really couldn't care less about that rather strange-looking fella with two i's in his name!

But thanks for caring..
