For the Greater Good of God Leaked? Perhaps not.

on August 16, 2006 @ 19:14

We have received reports that For the Greater Good of God, a 10 minute epic from the new album has been leaked to the net. Our source claims "there are plenty of keyboards and yes female backing at one point but as we have discussed Maiden use it to there strength."

Maidenfans opinion of this is that it is not an Iron Maiden song but a song entitled "Into The Black Hole" by Ayreon featuring Bruce Dickinson on vocals.

Sweden Rock Magazine have listened to For the Greater Good of God, and they wrote that the female backings vocals was during the chorus just after Bruce sang the songname during the chorus, and then they replied in the same words. - Yax

I've listened to a leaked version of it and yes there is female backings and keyboards.

It's different but it's good.

If you haven't checked out "into the black hole" you should but you can tell instantly that it isn't Maiden. Good track though. Bruce sings his balls off, its similar to some of his solo stuff which by the way if you don't have you must get the Chemical Wedding. The best album of the 90's

Yeh seriously, anyone who thinks that even sounds like Maiden should be shot.

I agree - it's absurd to listen a prog metal, sci-fi, soundscape-ish tune and think that it's Maiden. Do people use their heads and musical common sense or they flip out as soon as they hear Bruce's voice? and at least Into the Black Hole IS sung by Bruce - I saw occasions in which people were buying Edguy or unknown band songs as Maiden's.... bah!

And also the lyrics - no one notices that, apart from the title not being in the lyrics (but ok, there are many songs without the title in the lyrics), the theme of the lyrics can't just fit the title "For the greater good of God"??

I'm glad someone tried to palm this off as Maiden. I would not have heard it otherwise. I'd normally start running if approached by anything so proggy but 'Into the Black Hole' is rather bold! Bruce's vocal is great. - Parmenion.
