*hurries onto the scene* Ha! First here to get my thoughts!
The album is pretty damn good if you ask me, its very big in places and epic as we were told, The Pilgrim, BTATS The Longest Day are good ones but I can't think what others to mention ^^" but the main point of it is this: it is the shit and it rocks. big time
Up the Irons!!!

The new album is quite a treat! While every Iron Maiden new release carries its own charm, this one is a prticularly strong showing. Very inspired music! Although I am a big fan of their pre-90 releases, I have to say this one is a true winner. One cannot find a filler song here. Everybody will of course have diffrenet views, but I think that most fans will quickly elevate this album to their favorite status. I do not want to comment on the individual songs yet because of spoilers and the fact that the songs are still evolving for me with every listen. I have been very happy with the re-union of the boys since 2000. This album is definitely Maiden at their very best. If you are into straight-forward catchy songs it may take some time to appreciate the songs on this album because they are not intended to be catchy. It will be a sad day when Iron Maiden offcially retires one day and we will have no more prospects of next albums. For now though happy days with this most excellent album. The songs are very well suited for live performance in my opinion so I am not surprised that they are planning to include most of them in the playlist of the upcoming tour. UP THE IRONS!

1. Different World – When you first listen to the song you instantly think of the Wicker Man and Wildest Dream. Yet as the song goes on, it gets better, Bruce really shines on this song, and his range is awesome. I love the twin guitars during the solo, so vintage Maiden, sends chills up and down the spine. The one thing I like about the song is that it has all elements of all Maiden albums throughout the years. 2. These Colors Don’t Run – The song starts slow with a guitar intro slowly the keyboards and another guitar layer comes along. The song is slowed down version of Flight of the Icarus. Yet all changes in the middle of the song when Maiden changes the tempo of the song and takes the listener back to the times of 7th Son. 3. Brighter Than A thousand Suns – Sounds like a song that should have been on Powerslave. Then in then the middle of the song it goes very melodic and in typical fashion gets heavier as the guitar solo starts, then before you know it Nicko tears it up with double bass. Maiden does a wonderful job of rhythm and time changes that will make any Maiden fan excited. The riff changes are the best in a long time compared to the ones found in Hallowed be Thy Name! 4. The Pilgrim – The song starts with a heavy bass drum and twin guitar licks. In some parts of the song it sounds like Quest of Fire meets Power Slave. The sound is vintage Maiden, and people will love the unexpected time changes throughout the song. The song sounds again very Powerslavish and combines many aspects found in the 7th Son album as well. 5. The Longest Day - Well it’s Maiden, but it sounds like a Bruce Dickinson solo song. One thing people will notice on this song is that the guitar riffs have a more crunch to them then usual. Lots of time changes, sounds very epic throughout the song. Bruce never sounded better, again it sounds like Bruce’s material. 6. Out Of The Shadows – When it started I thought of every 80’s band in the world, yet it quickly went into a something straight out of Revelations meets Journeyman. A lot of bluesy elements in the song, very Deep Purple in many parts. 7. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg – Cool intro, very Fear of the Dark. The guitar sounds so cool, very deep and rich crunches when the song kicks in. The best way to describe the song is Fear Is the Key. 8. For The Greater Good of God – best Maiden Song ever. When I heard this at the beginning I thought this song was going to be lame, man was I ever wrong. This song has everything that Maiden is about. A powerful song for today’s time. It’s the best song on the cd, when you guys hear this I promise chills, Goosebumps, and a natural high. This is 7th Son material! The one thing I love the galloping thing from The Trooper, Up the Irons!! Alexander the Great, Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, 7th Son of a 7th Son wrapped in one!!!! 9. Lord Of Light – Starts very slow, David Bowie meets Iron Maiden. After a minute and 42 seconds the song gets pretty heavy. Another song that could be found n the Fear of the Dark album and No Prayer for the Dying!!! I love the keyboard work around the 6 minute mark. I found this to be the weakest song of the cd, yet better than anything on the Dance of Death cd! 10. The Legacy – Starts acoustic. You guys get prepared for another epic, simply beautiful. This song has the best elements found on the epics on Dance of Death. The verdict, I think its one of the best albums to come out of the Maiden camp in a long time. If I had to rate this in the top ten maiden albums, I’d have to say it’s in the top four. 1. 7th Son (The planets aligned right on that one) 2. Number of the Beast (Really broke ground on Maiden’s Sound) 3. Brave New World (Personal for me, my father died that year, the songs hit home) 4. A Matter of Life and Death (Refreshing that Maiden took chances and it paid off)

The best Maiden album ever for many reasons...
firstly, because of the continuos growth they've shown from BNW thru to DOD and they had to follow those two with somethin remarkable which they have achieved quite brilliantly.
Secondly, the technicality of the songs is something that is reminicsnt of the SSOTSS days. Great musicianship from all members.
Thirdly, they have broken new ground with their innumerable progg time changes and yet done it ina vintage Iron Maiden way... which will only please the existing fan base and will continue to expand without any boundaries through this album. No one can do it like Maiden.

UP THE IRONS !!!!!

mkay well i have to say that it takes a wile to get into it, but i tink that from bnw and dod they have gone down from that in there new album, theres nt as many heavy riffs and i wanted it heavier. but the album is still very good.

I m just a number and not a free man, but that, my friends could be among the 3 best maiden albums ever !!!_____awesome!!!!!

I agree with one of the comments above, that many of the songs would benefit by loosing "the boring and repetitive intros." C'mon Maiden, not every song needs the same intro and outro!

I just had a short listen to the whole album, but not in a complete way, so this is only my first impression. The Album is 90% simply perfect, 10% simply strange! And it is more a "Bruce"'s album than a Steve-Album! Why? Well, for me this sounds like the best BD Solo Album possible... and Bruces voice ... really incredible ...some guitar work doesnt fit I think ... but maybe this is going to change! If you dont expect a new Powerslave, this album will blow you away ...!!! Thanks, Maiden!

I did not use a long time to get into it. It is a great album, competing. It is competing with the best of albums, The Number Of The Beast.

Powerfull album, very complex and it sounds fucking good. I really liked Brave New World and Dance Of Death but this one is definitely better.
This is a question of groove and AMOLAD is full of.
Kevin, special thanks for the mixing. No mastering was a great idea. Finaly, thanks Maiden, After 30 years, inventing an album such AMOLAD is simply outstanding ! A perfect metal jewel and with no doubt their best work since 7th Son !
Have a great time listenning to it. Frenchfan.
