Do you want to become part of Eddie?? Well EMI have come up with novel way to celebrate the release of Edward The Great and they are asking fans to quite literally become a part of the album. The aim is to create a mosaic version of the Edward the Great artwork compiled entirely from pictures taken by the bands fans over their long career. Viewed from a distance this will look like Eddie but on closer inspection it's revealed to actually be composed of thousands of separate fan pics - each one literally becoming 'a bit of a beast'. A limited edition print run of the finished poster will provide prizes for a selection of the best photos received. Pictures can submitted at a special website which will also provide tips on required formatting, file size etc. The images themselves can be live shots,band shots, portraits of fans or their mates - anything that means Maiden to the fans.
In addition to the poster the fan pics will also be displayed in a special Iron Maiden screensaver. Once installed this will randomly pull the pics from a database, constantly supplying changing material for the screensaver & giving the fans a platform to view each others pics.
Details or the website will be posted on the Maiden website early next week.
FOR THE GAMERS of you out there you'll be interested to know that Iron Maiden will be featuring in two major game releases before Xmas.
First is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 released by Activision which not only has the track The Number of The Beast blasting will you're pulling your best tricks but also has Eddie making a very special appearance as a Hidden playable Character in the game. You will also be able to select from various Iron Maiden board designs to drop into what is described as the Ultimate Skateboarding challenge. Available on PS2, X Box, Gamecube and PC. This will no doubt be a big game this Xmas. Release Date 22 November '02
Following up is the awesome Grand Theft Auto: Vice City released by Rock Star Games. Known for it's controversial history and violence this is 4th installment of the GTA series and includes '2 Minutes to Midnight' in the soundtrack while you go around the city environments unleashing your own personal chaos! Available on all formats 8 November '02.
BAND NEWS - As mentioned in the last mail out the band are all returning to base to start the writing of the next studio album which will be recorded in London in the New Year. It's too early to mention any further details but you can guarantee that as soon as news comes in you will be able to find it on the site.
