Maiden contributes to 7 inch sales resurgence

In the year to September, more than 700,000 seven-inch singles were sold an increase of 35 per cent on last year.

At the same time, overall sales of singles including CDs, have dropped by 31 per cent.

The biggest seller so far this year has been I Believe In a Thing Called Love by The Darkness.

Releases by The Strokes and Iron Maiden are next, while The White Stripes are in fourth and fifth position with Seven Nation Army and I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.
