Arch Enemy Likes the Maiden Crowd

on January 23, 2004 @ 09:04

Michael Ammott, founder of Arch Enemy, the current band supporting Maiden on their North American Tour, seem to like the Maiden fans. Here is what he wrote on his latest diary:

"Hello everyone, just dropping another few lines from Canada...we are on the road with IRON MAIDEN!!! (I just like writing that!). We played the 2nd Canadian date last night @ the Colisee Pepsi Arena in Quebec - and it was fan-fuckin-tastic! We did not expect this much love from the Maiden crowd - as our brand of metal is a more extreme one.. But I have to say that the Canadian Maiden fans totally got it and gave us a lot of support! Cool! The night before we were playing @ the Bell Centre in Montreal, and although we suffered from a pretty chaotic gig equipment wise (seemingly everything that could go wrong did!), the crowd was really super-supportive and made us feel good...in the end it was a cool experience! Thank you Canada!!!"

Somebody asked me on the French language BB what the setlist was for the opening act in Montreal and Quebec City. Does anybody here know?

Maybe you could lead him to the Arch Enemy BB. I'm sure somebody knows over there:

The latest entry:

Just wanted to drop by and say that we had great time here in NYC opening up for Iron Maiden @ the Hammerstein Ballroom for 3 nights...as you might have heard, the last show was cancelled for reasons unknown to me...the 3 shows that did go ahead were really cool though...we played a slightly different set every night, we are still adjusting and fine tuning it....but we are having fun on stage (and off stage!) and just going for it. It has to be said that the NYC audience was a much tougher crowd than the crazy metal heads in Canada last week for sure...but it's all good - we love a good challenge, and I think we won some people over to our PURE FUCKING METAL! :-) Tomorrow morning we fly out to L.A...away from the snow and ice cold winds of NYC...my 10$ jacket will get a rest no doubt! Ha-ha... Thanks to all that supported us @ the NYC shows....we'll be back before you know it!
