Maiden Headlines Yet Another Ozzfest Date

on August 1, 2005 @ 19:07

Iron Maiden did headline a second Ozzfest gig, after Black Sabbath did cancel for illness reasons. This was the second time Maiden headlined on this Ozzfest tour, the first time being on July 27 for the same reason.

At the New Jersey gig, the band did play an extra four songs. Indiana got the same treatment.

Ozzy seemed to have a really bad cold on the Chicago date, which might explain the current situation.

Here's the announcement courtesy of Blabbermouth:

BLACK SABBATH Cancel Indiana OZZFEST Gig - July 31, 2005

According to the official web site of the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, BLACK SABBATH will **NOT** be performing at today's Ozzfest stop at the venue "due to an illness in the band." However, the remainder of the show will go on as planned and IRON MAIDEN will headline and will play a "complete" set.

If you choose to not attend the show, tickets can be refunded at your original point of purchase beginning Monday (August 1). Show attendance waives your choice for a refund.

This is the second SABBATH cancellation in five days following the band's no-show in Holmdel, New Jersey Wednesday night (July 27). That appearance was reportedly cancelled after SABBATH frontman Ozzy Osbourne — who recently revealed to fans that he was battling a cold — became "too sick" to take to the stage.

BLACK SABBATH reportedly performed an abbreviated headlining set Saturday night (July 30) at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, Illinois.

The 10th annual edition of Ozzfest runs through September 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILER MATERIAL ABOUT THE SETLIST

Maiden will headline another Ozzfest today:

http://roadrun.com/blabbermouth.net/news.a...ewsitemID=39998

It'll be their 3rd headling appearance at this years Ozzfest. They will probably perform 4 more songs than usual.

Also they have change the opening song in Chicago - they replaced "Wrathchild" with "Murders In The Rue Morgue".

I saw Chicago concert and Ozzy was really suffering from cold. It was one of the worst shows I've ever seen (Sabbath)... He shouldn't perform that night as he basicaly couldn't sing!

BTW this is Iron Maiden set list for headlining Ozzfest shows:

Murders in the Rue Morgue
Another Life
Prowler
Trooper
Revelations
Wrathchild
Die With Your Boots On
Phantom of the Opera
Run to the Hills
Number of the Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

Encore:
Running Free
Sanctuary

They added 4 songs.

Yeah, I kinda wish he got sick too. Damn. If Maiden played 4 more songs, it'd have been awesome. They're the reason I poisoned my ears listening to In Flames, Shadows Fall, and Mudvayne before them.
