Maiden Re-Downloaded ?

on January 6, 2005 @ 18:22

The latest in the series of the UK Maiden appearance in 2005 predicts that, next June 4 and 5, Iron Maiden and AC/DC will headline the ...Download Festival.

Here we go again. Any bets ?

This, of course, could contradict the still-unofficial Rock Am Ring date, set for June 3 to June 5...

IMO it's impossible. At least not this date. Maiden IS confirmed for Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park festivals which take place on June 4/5/6 in Nurburgring and Nuremberg. Check the official festival websites: www.rock-am-ring.com and www.rock-im-park.com
I think it's not announced on IronMaiden.com yet 'cause they haven't confirmed the exact days but they will appear at this German festivals! And if Download is on the same weekend, it'd be impossible for them to play there as well 'cause:
- Maiden's not doing 3 shows in a row anymore
- it's impossible to get all the equipment on time from Nurburging/Nuremberg in less than one day! Remember that both shows are festivals and Maiden will be playing there with their full stage set (maybe except PA's).

So for me Hyde Park rumour is more possible (and it'd be better - cheaper to get to London and great venue which Maiden haven't played before!). smile.gif

Again ... What was the last festival AC/DC played !? I thought they do not like festivals !?

And indeed ... Maiden IS confirmed for Rock am Ring and Rock im Park ....
-> www.rockamring.de -> www.rockimpark.de

I'm sure the contracts are signed and stuff ... otherwise MLK would not announce them ...

That's why we have rumor forum... biggrin.gif

Well, it seems strange that the Maiden hasn't announced the RaR/RiP festivals dates yet.

Yes, they are announced officialy by the festival promoters, so where's the glitch ?

I doubt they'd play three nights in a row, but not because of their equipement (in Europe, they tour with two sets), but simply because they want to cut back on touring.

Cheers

remember that MAIDENs gig in Hyde Park was banned in 2000 by local officials (maybe queen?) for the reason that rock/metal band like IM is unsuitable for this area

Here's an email from a Download official representative:

The date is June 11th/12th 2005. No bands or prices have yet been confirmed, this should be at the end of February beginning of March.

Thank you

System of a Down released more tourdates for its 2005 tour.

One of them is:

Jun 12 - Donington, UK - Download Festival

So, no Maiden at Download, for they will be in Italy and Switzerland on that same week-end.

Rumor closed ? biggrin.gif

It seems Download could be expanded for one day, namely on June 10. That would fit Maiden.

So, here you go, the rumors are flying high again.
