Nicko Jams with Sambora, Alice Cooper for Charity

on February 1, 2005 @ 04:37

Nicko McBrain, who is very busy with charities (ranging from the Narada Foundation to Raven's Heart) was expected to play a jam session last night on another charity with other big names:

The third ring of the social circus is at the Marriott in Delray Beach for the WPB-based Children's Place at Home Safe fund-raiser. I hear there's going to be a jam session after dinner with host Tico Torres (Bon Jovi), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Alice Cooper, Stevie Van Zandt (E Street Band), Nico McBrain (Iron Maiden), Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Bobby Dall (Poison) and Snake Sabo (Skid Row).

The Children's Place at Home Safe, Inc., provides residential shelter care and treatment for children that are abused, abandoned, neglected, drug exposed and HIV/AIDS impacted.

The event is organized by Tico Torres. Today, a full day of tennis and golf should be under way at the Boca Lago Country Club.

According to Thom Smith of The Palm Beach Post, BON JOVI drummer Tico Torres' fund-raising dinner and golf and tennis outing, The Classic, held two Sundays ago in Delray, Florida, raised more than $250,000 for The Childrens Place at Home Safe.

"The golf at Boca Lago Country Club attracted the likes of football greats Lawrence Taylor and Jim McMahon," Smith writes. "Sports stars also packed the dinner at the Delray Beach Marriott, but the theme was definitely rock 'n' roll, with Torres summoning several special friends: Van Zandt, golf nut Alice Cooper, Boca boy and IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain and [bass] guitarist Bobby Dall from POISON.

"Seizing the opportunity, organizers proposed a deal: If the audience could raise $20,000, the rockers would jam. The money was easy. The musicians needed a little time to organize before ripping an enthusiastic if not totally artistic 'Gloria'."

"I'm very, very happy to be here to support Home Safe," Van Zandt said. "We in the arts do what we can do, but it's still the people on the front lines who really get the job done, and I want to applaud them. They're amazing."
