Pubs have been the backbone of the music industry for years.

Anyone who has ever done their time gigging will be able to tell more than enough stories about the hundreds of pubs they played before they made it or chose to call it a day.

And just like any venue, some pubs are better to play than others, some pubs have an aura about them and one such pub is The Bridge House.

The venue in Canning Town was one of the most important British pub rock venue of the 1970's and the first pub in the world with its own record label.

Now a book has been released by its owner Terence Murphy giving a full biography of the pub and the bands who played there.

The book chronicles all the famous history of the building which played host to U2's first British gig. CHAS'N'DAVE recorded a whole live double album there. It also boasts its reputation as the Alma Mater of rock legends IRON MAIDEN, DIRE STRAITS, DEPECHE MODE and COCKNEY REJECTS.
