Adrian Smith recalls an afternoon with Greeny and writing Black Light
Adrian Smith borrowed Kirk Hammett's Greeny Les Paul for an afternoon after a chance hotel meeting in Canada, he tells eonmusic. Smith recalls playing the guitar through a practice amp and hearing its distinctive out-of-phase sound. He also describes how he and Richie Kotzen discarded a finished song but kept its drum track, then wrote “Black Light” over it with Phil Lynott in mind. The interview covers their shared vocals and guitar parts, alongside Maiden's anniversary celebrations; it contains tour setlist discussion.
