This compilation is for the new Maiden fans who have never heard any of this songs and want to explore the world of Iron Maiden and it's not for heavy metal freaks like us.Do you agree?

According to some fans on the official BB board, there seem to be different version of the ad around the world. The one that was posted on ironmaiden.com (windows media player needed) isn't recognized by everyone as the one they saw. Interesting.
As for the artwork, I don't hate the idea, but I'm not fond of the way it's drawed. It's really not up to the quality Maiden usually gives us (except all that Ed Hunter/Futureal CGI stupidity !).
You really can see that they lost track here, since Eddie's Archive will include rendition of existing artwork on the three different covers (they've changed the building on the BBC archives: it used to be the Capitol and now is the BBC but it seems badly done) and not new ones. Very sad. On the other hand, the latest from Riggs isn't up to what he used to do either... Are we in a dead end ?

I don't think so. I think there are some artists who can draw Eddie just as well as Riggs. Some of the christmas cards done by fans have been really nice, and them artists could have done something.
Failing that, Melvyn Grant would be ok. At least he wouldn't draw Eddie by copying and pasting the same face every time.
I think it's Maiden being lazy and not trying to find a decent artist over anything else.
You're right, there are other artists around and they sure could find a good one that had great ideas (just not the guy from The Neighbor of The Beast, I like his art as fan-drawing, but it's too "soft-edged" for Maiden).
As for Derek, here an interesting comment from him:
"I think the real problem was that my artwork was getting more attention than the band really liked and they thought they would see if they could use other artists instead."

Its a shame about Riggsy as he will always be the best at what he did. I dont think any other artist could have created the SIT artwork.
There are some talented fans though. Maybe they should hold a competition to create the next album cover

Now THAT would be a great idea ! The only drawback being that Maiden would be revealing themselves as they would have to give away the theme from the album...
