Iron Maiden Camp Chaos Videos
Apparently Iron Maiden have hired Camp Chaos to do some animation on old videos. 'Flight of Icarus' was released this week and it's running on Kerrang TV. According to sonicfoundry.com, Bob Cesca - Camp Chaos Head Animator - just finished editing an entire Iron Maiden music video. It seems that the video will be released on DVD, info that the Sonic Foudry article confirms: "Watch for new Iron Maiden videos on the Camp Chaos site, or on their upcoming DVD release."
Also on mackietone.com article, Tim Panella - The man behind the music and soundtracks - says: "We're also working on new animations that will be prominently featured on a special edition 25th Anniversary DVD for one of the most well-known, multi-platinum selling heavy meal bands to ever come out of the UK. Our animation work will be incorporated into seven of the band's existing videos."
Obviously he's talking about Iron Maiden.

You're welcome
First creating videos takes a long time.
Then, we could doubt this 25th birthday thing, indeed: if we take into account the 1976 birthdate, that leads us to 2001, which is obviously past.
On the other hand, why talk about a forthcoming DVD in september 2001, when the year is almost over and when there's already a planned Rio DVD ? It shows a future plan more than anything. Let's not forget that on the official BB the forthcoming DVD plan seem to have been partially confirmed. That's why I think the 1979 date is being chosen as the birthdate (which leads us to 2004, then a end-2003 release wouldn't be out of the question)
The only thing where I have remaining doubts is that 4 videos was the first number of videos talked about in the official BB. Maiden could have well decided to scale down the project to four videos.
Anyway, all this is pure theory and with all theories, no one can be sure of anything

Anyways, I like the idea of a forthcoming DVD, but I prefer the idea of a forthcoming VHS

Thank you Ancient Mariner ! I really like the atmosphere in this forums. I think I have to thank the admins (you ) for it. I'll be around often to share ideas with you !
Moreover, the idea of having a forum like this one where only authorized poster can start a thread is really a great idea, I must say.
As for the forthcoming, I'm sure Maiden will certainly double it with a VHS. Even in some countries DVD accounts for almost 60% (and growing) of the sales and that a DVD is more profitable (VHS being marginally costlier to do, don't ask me why though), Maiden shouldn't forget that 40% is a huge number and that young fans (especially but not only) might have VHS (since it's cheaper).
If not, we will organize threads to remind them this reality !

By saying one of the article is outdated, he might hint either into the fact that the number of seven videos might be different or that the DVD won't be for a 25th B-day.
Check that !

First - working with Maiden is a dream come true. Visiting with them back in January of 2001 during their Empire shows in London was probably one of the coolest things I've ever had the priviledge of doing. Spoke with Bruce for hours about his film work and idears for the videos - in fact, I still have his hand drawn page with suggestions for the "re-mastered" vids. Everyone in the band were awesome - and yes, Steve Harris has one hell of a handshake grip!
Shortly after the trip to London, two of us here at Camp Chaos set about animating new visuals for 5 classic videos and 1 recent video. At the time, the deadline was tight so we could only afford to simply replace stock footage scenes and "fictional" moments of the videos, while leaving the band performance footage pretty much intact.
The greatest blast was this... Like most of you, I spent many school days in the '80s getting in trouble for drawing Eddie in the margins of my text books. Now I was getting paid to draw and animate Eddie. And the fact that so many of you have responded positively to the videos is a genuine honor!
So instead of approaching the videos in the typical zany Camp Chaos style, I wanted to treat the animation with a darker, more comic book style. In fact, there's only 1 shot in all the videos that's drawn in the style of Napster Bad etc...
But alas, apart from FOI and RttH, I don't know when or where the rest of videos will be released. There was one video in particular that I personally don't care for - and it was one I spent the most time on. It was originally supposed to feature famous politicians being attacked by Eddie, but after September 11 we decided to rework it. The revisited version doesn't quite have the spark of the original. But in saying that, there are some really cool animated shots of Eddie wearing one of his most famous disguises.
By the way, the Mackie news is very outdated. So unless it comes from IronMaiden.com, don't take it as gospel.
I'll be hanging out here from now on, so if there's any questions let me know.
If anyone from Sanctuary is reading this - cheers! I miss you guys!
Thanks, y'all!
