A scuzz Rainmaker review

on November 25, 2003 @ 15:17

Rain of terror!
Iron Maiden - Rainmaker (EMI)

Some may deem Iron Maiden to be past it. Fools. As if further proof were needed, the Maiden return to stake their claim as UK metal kings with the thundering Rainmaker.

After nearly 30 years churning out riff-laden metal you'd have expected them to start pushing out some Bon Jovi power ballads and retire gracefully by now. But shamefully showing up those who followed in their path, Rainmaker shows no sign of the pipe and slippers.

Bruce Dickinson plays shamen to the skies, tearing dramatically through Rainmaker, his vocals confidently soaring and colliding fearlessly with Dave Murray's riffs. If you can think of a more ideal antidote for a season of Slade and Pop Idol covers, we'd love to hear it.
