Iron Maiden: 'Macs Rock'
Jonny Evans of http://www.macworld.co.uk reports that IRON MAIDEN are using Macs to supply their IT infrastructure on their world tour to promote the group's newly released "Dance of Death" album.
The band recently released a DVD collection of their promo videos, called "Visions of the Beast". This collection was all assembled on a Mac, the band's technology advisor Johnny B told Macworld.
"We pulled the whole project together on a Mac. We used Final Cut Pro to assemble the parts of the video, LightWave to create the menu buttons, and DVD Studio Pro 1.5 — which we persevered with — to pull the project together for the golden master."
The band's love for the platform did not go without opposition. "EMI slagged us off for using Macs. People there told us that if we assembled the project on a Mac, we'd have problems getting the product pressed and manufactured."
As a band, IRON MAIDEN aren't known for toeing the line. They went ahead using Macs anyway: "It all worked out fine, and now we've sold over 400,000 copies of the DVD."

if you are a mac user you´ll know what I meant
MACINTOSH = Most Applications Crash; If Not, The Operating System Hangs
Maiden have proven over the years they are clever and shrewd. Spend $100,000 on a PC run AVID video editing studio or $10,000 on a Mac based system that doesn't crash, edits from Mini DV to 24fps Cinema quality film. I think steve did a fucking amazing job on Rock on Rio. If that is the quality we get from Macs lets hope they keep using them.
Don't get stuck backstage talking to Johnny B about macs ....he will have you down the nearest Apple store before you can say ... The rain has started.
Hoho TGD
