Heavy metal vocalist Paul Dianno rocks Pune

The original vocalist of the international heavy metal group Iron Maiden, Paul Dianno, held a concert in Pune on Saturday night, with his new band The Killers.

Dianno has been known in the past for his turbulent lifestyle and cocaine addiction, his vocals translating the rage of the early 80's.

And the rock star's message for his audience was to stay away from drugs.
"We are in India for the fight against narcotics," said the singer.

"Celebrities are often used to endorse products so we thought it was a good idea to ask a celebrity to do it, so I contacted Neil, his manager who is also a friend and he suggested Paul Dianno," said Michael, of the Fight Against Narcotics.

"Paul himself was a little skeptical, as has been associated with drug abuse in a big way and gave up barely five years back. But we insisted that he was the best person to do it," he added.

And if fighting against drugs isn't enough, the rock star is all set to act in a bollywood movie.

"Yes, I have been offered a role by Akbar to play a role in his bollywood film and I'll probably play a gangster in the film," said Dianno.

Films or no films, it was a trip that was special for the star and the rock-heavy metal enthusiasts in Pune.
