I would love to see Live After Death on dvd. I know most maiden fans would to. I think they should keep with the progressive style but add the charm of the 80's. Maiden should play songs live that they never thought they would play live. It would keep things very interesting.

Dr. Tewari wrote this brilliant message on the official BB !!!!

----

What follows is from what I believe is a reliable source close to the band. If it turns out to be true I will truly be disappointed.

New album title: Soul Wars
Tracks:
1. Jaw (Harris/Dickinson)
2. The Origin of Consciousness and the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (Harris)
3. Fish & Chips (Dickinson/Smith)
4. Mind the Gap (McBrain)
5. Edith, I Will Love You Forever (Harris/Murray)
6. 8675309 (Tutone)
7. The Soul Wars (Dickinson/Murray/Harris)
8. Trying to Eat my own Nostril (Gers/Dickinson/Harris)
9. Fresh Writing Utensils (Murray/Gers/Smith)
10. Disposable Wipes of the Serengeti (Dickinson/Harris/Smith)
11. The Golden Retriever (Harris)

Bandspokesperson Monday 20 January: "This is going to be a real departure for the band, both musically and lyrically. The boys feel they no longer have to prove anything hot on the heels of their succesful reunion tour and they plan to push the boundries in both subject matter and musical composition. It would appear that their hardcore following may be a bit surprised by what's in store for the new album which will be entitled 'Soul Wars', but they (the boys) believe that music and metal is an adventure and they are ready to push the envelope even further after a 20+ year recording history. I will provide a blow-by-blow commentary on the different tracks:"

Track 1: Jaw (Harris/Dickinson) - always a fan of horror movies, Steve was really interested in the life of the shark that starred in the movie Jaws before he (the shark) became famous; this song is a fast and furious rocker and serves as the prequel if you will to the famous film.

Track 2: The Origin of Consciousness and the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (Harris) - said Steve, "I always loved this book and always thought it would make a brilliant movie. The film was never made but we wrote a song about it!"

Track 3: Fish & Chips (Dickinson/Smith) - complete with a trombone, two saxaphones and a tuba, this song will be the first single.

Track 4: Mind the Gap (McBrain) - terrible tale of when Nicko fell into the Gap at the Charing Cross tube stop. Fantastic chorus by the way: "Mind the Gap, Mind the Gap, this is not a through street, but you better Mind the Gap, Mind the Gap and try to keep on your feet, Ohh Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh!"

Track 5: Edith, I Will Love You Forever (Harris/Murray) - the first of a pair of heart-wrenching love songs on the new album, this one is about Dave's grade school teacher who took the time to explain to him why Goofy can talk but Pluto cannot.

Track 6: 8675309 (Tutone) - the second love song on the album marks a first for the band as it represents the first time they covered a song on a major studio release. Says Steve "We were looking to try something different by having another artist's song on the new album and the Tommy Tutone number was perfect. It's even got the Caveman, myself, Nicko, Janick and Adrian joining Bruce with the chorus. Jenny, I got your number, 8675309 . . .!"

Track 7: The Soul Wars (Dickinson/Murray/Harris) - this one has it all, lyrically, depicting the struggle of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Glenn Hughes!

Track 8: Trying to Eat my own Nostril (Gers/Dickinson/Harris) - a very complex 8-minute song that will prove to be a challenge to reproduce live with all the time changes, banjos, accordians and 11 xylophones used in this piece. But the boys are determined to include the song in the new setlist.

Track 9: Fresh Writing Utensils (Murray/Gers/Smith) - a triple guitar assault instrumental, for which a video has already been shot depicting Bruce doing push-ups during the entire 12 minute song!

Track 10: Disposable Wipes of the Serengeti (Dickinson/Harris/Smith) - a cautionary tale depicting the pitfalls of failing to bring a diaper genie and a box of wipes when bringing the family along on safari.

Track 11: The Golden Retriever (Harris) - the centerpiece of the album, this 9.5 minute epic details the adventures of Winston Churchill's 85 pound golden retriever (named The Ouchless Pug) who was left at home during the Great War. This is indeed a song about World War I but from the point of view of a faithful friend that waited by the window for his master's return. An excellent album closer.

----

Cheers

My friend is a good friend of Kevin and he told me that Kevin has told him that the tracklist for the new album is not offical yet, but he thinks that Maiden gives same kinds of name that is in this list, because Maiden hasn't decided the tracklist or the new album yet... But Kevin has got a suggest.. And here it goes

Iron Maiden - "Ballad Of Death"

1. The Hard Times (Gers/Dickinson)
2. No Pain Anymore (Harris)
3. Me, My Enemy (McBrain)
4. The Rising Sun (Dickinson/Smith/Harris)
5. Against The Wind (Harris)
6. Ballad Of Death (Dickinson/Harris)
7. Earth Quest (Gers/Murray/Dickinson)
8. Downfall (Gers)
9. One More Time (Harris/Dickinson)
10. Danger Zone (Dickinson)

Taken from Maiden BB

"My girlfriend's brother has got a friend who's flatmate lives with J R R Tolkien's (Lord of Rings author) great grand nephew, who incidentally is also a friend of Kevin Shirley's brother's landlord, and is a Maiden fan. Apparently, Steve Harris approached the people who own all the copyrighting for Lord of the Rings for permission to use some of the scenes and language from the book. It was agreed so this guy then asked the landlord to ask Kevin Shirley's brother to ask Kevin Shirley whether or not this was true. This was confirmed and through a leak, he was able to get the inside info on the album, and here it is....

New album is a double-concept album based on Lord of the Rings. 1st part to be released May 5th, 2nd part to be released on May 19th.

Album 1
Gondor Closes
1. Orthanc (3'47) (Smith/Murray)
2. Through Rohan (5'51) (Gers/Harris)
3. The Plight of Men 4'37 (McBrain)
4. Denethor's End 4'58 (Harris/Dickinson)
5. Flight of the Nazgul 6'00 (Smith/Gers/Murray)
6. Gondor Closed 10'49 (Harris)
7. The Sacking of Osgiliath 5'31 (Gers/Murray/Dickinson)
8. Minas Morgul 8'01 (Smith/Dickinson/Harris)

Album 2
Mordor Opens
1. The Black Gates (4'21) (Smith/Dickinson/Harris)
2. Mordor Opens (7'03) (Harris/Smith/Murray)
3. Sauron's Mouth (6'45) (Dickinson)
4. Conflict by the Morannon (5'11) (Harris/Gers)
5. Capture (5'00) (Harris)
6. Escape (5'00) (Smith)
7. The Struggle Within (8'20) (Murray/Gers/Dickinson)
8. Mount Doom (9'34) (Smith/Murray/Harris/Dickinson/Gers)

Wow! I can't wait if it's true - i'm sure my source is reliable! Only 4 months to go"
