An Interesting Look on Maiden's Sets Design
From Mikedean of the official BB:"Maiden's sets are designed by a company in the UK called Hangman. Check them out at www.hangman.co.uk
Long before the DOD commenced I e-mailed them to ask them about their involvement with Maiden. Albeit some time later, they have now kindly replied as below:
We have been designing and manufacturing Maiden stage sets since Powerslave although had some limited input prior to that.
We have made all the Eddies, walking and Big Eddies as well as props and everything you see.
With the "Give Me Ed" tour as there was'nt a new theme to run with, it was the obvious route to take and interpret the images Derek had done over the years. Everyone enjoyed producing the set for that tour as we spent hours going through the archives and rediscovering Eddies we had all forgotten about. I think we used an Eddie from every past tour, every album and lots of single covers.
The "Dance of Death" tour was our baby as well, in fact it was designed at the same time as the "Give Me Ed" tour, because the tours ran one after the other it would have been pretty difficult to chase the production around the world to finalise design decisions, so, for the first time ever we had the whole thing in the can before the previous tour had even started!
Because the stage design had been so up front it also allowed us for the first time to incorporate parts of the set design into the album cover, normally the cover is designed first and we use it for our inspiration.
For example, the floor we designed for the live show is on the cover, label and shirts etc.
The tour has just finished, well the equipment is somewhere in the Atlantic as I write and the band are home.
So things will now get back to the usual routine, the band will rest, write, and record. We will wait and see what impossible ideas are thrown at us and find a way to make them happen!
Cheers,
Alan.
Note from Maidenfans: Alan Chesters is the founder and co-owner of Hangman. He's a graphic artist who started painting backdrops in London in the 1970s.

IRON MAIDEN fan site MaidenFans.com (www.maidenfans.com) have posted the following correspondence with the UK company Hangman (www.hangman.co.uk) who are responsible for the set designs for the band’s tours....
Too bad they haven't mentionned Mikedean, since he got the answer. But let's not complain
Thanks Bravewords, you really are nice with us.
