Blaze Slags off the US, Gets Knocked by Sean Peck
After onstage anti-George Bush rhetoric by Blaze Bayley (he began a song by saying "Kill & Destroy George Bush!"), the singer from CAGE (Sean Peck) asked him what was up with slagging Bush and the USA. Both participants had finished their sets and were drunk. Words exchanged, Blaze reportedly asked, "Do you want to have a go at me?" and lunged towards Peck, who clocked him.As the former Iron Maiden singer was (ironically) falling down, Peck grabbed his collar and in best hockey fight fashion, pummeled Bayley a few more times. The result a quickly swollen and discolored eye.

I hate it when these things happen. I am saddened and pissed off.
Blaze should play his stuff and go off stage after that, like any other band, 'cause fighting with other bands and slagging Bush is not a msart thing to do in the USA, isn't it?
Hmmm how come its not OK for Blaze to do it but Geoff Tate can go on stage every night with a demin jacket bearing the face of George Bush on the back with the word LIAR written across it.
Sad to hear that Blaze is drinking again
Hurray for Sean Peck! Good job mate. Great to hear of someone standing up for what is right. I used to like Blaze only because he was in Iron Maiden. Now he can go kiss Sadam's butt!
I was actually quite pleased to see that when I went to the Queensryche show last week. It shows that not all Americans are blind followers of that would-be Hitler
Folks, we're citizens of the world, here. Dubya is still the leader of America. Somehow.
I can't vote against bush* but I will slag him whenever I can, because maybe a Yank'll bloody listen and vote Democrat. As for Blaze, it is too bad that he's drinking again. Bands, however, are entitled to their political views.
He probably would have gotten away with it if he tossed Tony Blair in there somewhere...
I am an American. I do disagree with Bush. I am actually anti-Bush. In America, Americans can talk all they want about their country, gov't, etc. Non-citizens, on the other hand need to choose their words wisely, or not express anti-american sentiments at all.
It is similar to... smacking around or teasing your little brother, but if somebody else threatens him in any way you would protect him with your life.
I'm sorry, but I have yet to encounter such logic, anywhere, anytime in human history. that's not defending your country, that's being brainwashed. If you think Bush is not a good president, you should do everything in your power to show your dissaprovenent and you should like the reaction against him, because it makes it more probable that he won't have a second chance at destroying your economy and world image that way. So many countries in history became better when the people revolutioned against the higher powers that faltered. France for example. But CNN has taught USA that you must support the goverment or else you're not a patriot.
I don't want to enter in any arguments, since I don't want to express my views in such forums, but, one thing, I think anyone slagging the US as a nation and people and not only as an administration is a pure racist and should be judged so.
No double standards on this issue.
Cheers
An excellent point, Newsmaster: The Saint!
Cage sux and Blaze has right
Look at his eye...
(and, yeah, he starts to grey).
Cheers
His beard, 'cos his nearly completely bald.
Blaze, or any "foriener" for that matter, showing disapproval of Bush will have absolutely no impact on how an American feels about the issue. If anything, it would anger most Americans. Do a bit of research on how much the French businesses have lost on imported goods to the USA.
By the way, where did get an idea like CNN is brainwashing the US? That is the most absurd thing I have heard. I personally don't know anybody that is pro-bush, and they have no problem letting others know about it.
Is that what the Germans said too in the 1930s?
I don't think they were that stupid...
Maiden Detroit. I do think everybody is untitled to give his/her opinion on any subject.
I do agree with you that when it comes to express an opinion about something or somebody from a country you don't belong to, it's better to choose your words wisely, as you said.
BUT, I totally disagree with this statement of yours:
I don't think that any criticism about your country (whatever the subject is) have to be "defended", because I don't think everything in a country is right. This is of course valid for any country. It would be wise to accept criticisms for what they are: only opinions. You can agree with them or not...
And could you stop writing this kind of stuff as soon as someone disagree with you:
It's a little bit agressive. Thanks
Blaze is a "brave" man, and he expressed his oppinions in the "land of the free".
Has anyone read the book "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore? Plenty good references on why the current administration in the US is corrupt.
Personally I think Blazes aggression would be better channelled towards Blair for being Bush's lapdog if he wants to mix metal and politics.
It's clear that he must be, for he wears caps and hats all the time (like the Scorpions singer). It shouldn't be a problem to shave it all, it could bring a new edge to his face (like that Midnight Oil singer).
But, GoC, have you seen it or is it just a thought ? Completely bald ? Not yet, I would guess.
Cheers
People like Michael Moores are what is wrong with the US.
Good point, RW. Moore's new movie's got some crazy-ass points as to why bush* is evil.
I also saw Moore's movie and what you said is is true, Cannon. Any American should see this movie.
My 600th post!
But, GoC, have you seen it or is it just a thought ? Completely bald ? Not yet, I would guess.

During The X Factour Blaze "featured" a bald spot of the same size than Dave Murray's (when he was on stage sweating a lot it was really clear, as it can be seen, for example, at the Chile 1996 video bootleg) and I was really surprised by that fact, as in the official Maiden photos they managed to hide his baldness quite well. Given the fact that since 1998 he has been wearing a cap or a wooly hat on stage and that getting bald can't be avoided when you have started loosing hair, the assumption that he might be completely bald seems reasonable.
I'm already starting to develop a bald spot, and I'm only nineteen
More on topic (at least considering the discussion that developed here), I really don't understand the point of not being allowed to express your opinion in another country. If America is the land of the free, people should be free to say they don't like Bush, even if they're non-American. It really harms Amercia's image otherwise.
Can't see why there's such a big fuss about it really. It might not be wise of Blaze to say something like that, but it's his concert and bands are allowed to express their political opinions.
Dont really know why Blaze felt the NEED to say that. His music isnt about politics really especially not his new album
Bush is a moron and he started the war whit Irak to have the petrol and not to save the world from terrorist.
OK now i have to go play tetris
I made the same assumption, but the speed at which one goes bald can vary. Dave, for instance, still doesn't need a cap. So, it's anyone guess to know where Blaze stands now.
It's true that Blaze sweats a lot and it's harder to hide a baldness when you hair are sweaty.
And I can talk out of personal experience. But now, I have a great face with almost shaved hair, all my friends (and girlfriends) prefer me that was
And, all in all, does it really matters ? I just want to hear great music !
Cheers
The thing that Blaze has to watch out for is advocating killing bush*. That's the kind of thing that tends to grab the attention of the Secret Service, the FBI, and maybe even the CIA (since Blaze is from England). With the current political climate in the US, it could even get Blaze labeled by the US gov't as a potential terrorist ... which is no joke, because that means the US gov't would feel free to detain him indefinitely without any cause if they felt like it.
As for the political argument that is developing here - let's cool it. This isn't the right forum. Take it to General Discussion if you want, but this is the News Forum.
Oh, give it a rest. Blaze was obviously drunk and anyway, no way would he have implied that he advocates killing bush*. Things like this happen all the time. We are this concerned only because it's Blaze.
OK now i have to go play tetris
That is so cute!
