Depends on what qualities they consider for a frontman (voice, crowd interaction, stage presence, etc.).

For me, Bruce should at least be in the top 3. I understand that Bon Scott is a legend, but he can't be number one, please... And Axl Rose ? I won't even enter into that one.

Everything's a matter of taste.

Cheers

I'm with German Eddie:
For me:

Freddie is #1
Robert is #2
and Bruce is#3

Even with the list in general, BUT AXL 7º!!!!!!! that's really incredible...
He can't be there......

And I think about that list... in the top 10 they have forgot Mick Jagger... I believe he surely must to be there.

They put Steve Tyler and A$$hole Rose before bruce and did'nt even include Mick...they gotta put the crackpipe down!!

Robert is a great singer (I'm a huge LedZep fan, so don't get me wrong), but IMHO he is not as much a showman as Freddie was, or Bruce is.

I'll agree Axl is a bad choice and Jagger should be up there. But have any of you ever been to an Ozzy or Aerosmith concert? Both Ozzy and Tyler are incredible showmen who give you 110% at every show. Tyler in particular is amazing onstage, full of non-stop energy ... while Ozzy is a master at working a crowd into a rabid frenzy.

Exactly, and for Bruce, Freddie is an exemple!!!

Of all time I'd say Freddie Mercury is 1. Then Bruce Dickinson. Then OZZY!

Freddie only had to go onstage and it was already a show. His style was unmistakeable. You could spot him out of a million showmen with ease. He was so terrific that when watching him, you could almost forget the music, if it wouldn't have been so brilliant as well.

Don't forget its about the best "Frontman" : Bruce stay behind the drums half the time during the shows. wink.gif

So I think that the 8th position in a list of 100, it's very good !!

Bruce does a great show IMHO.
Of course, frontman is not immediately 'showman', but it is an essential part of it. Otherwise the question would have been 'best singer'.

i think that you can be a great singer but a poor showman (or frontman, or backman, or what-you-want-man) if, for example, you always look at your feet and never look the fans in the eyes, etc...
And I prefer Robert Plant as a showman than as a singer.

Of course, as a Maiden fan, I think Bruce is the best, then Blaze, then Paul, then Denis Wilcock, then Paul Day. tongue.gif

But for the general opinion, with all the singers, dead or alive, retired or not, I think 8/100 is amazing !

Maybe they think that the number of different clothes during a show is the most important.

So Axl Rose is #1, and Jagger is very close !!! biggrin.gif

Rob Halford did that during the Priest concert I was to lately, and he still did a great show (of course, it depends on your intention and how you do it, I was just being picky wink.gif)

Indeed Bon, Freddie and Steven. But Bruce is superior to both Axl & Ozzy vocally as well as on stage. Phil Lynott RIP - a great songwriter but I wouldnt call him a great frontman, certainly not in a top 10. Indeed where the hell is RJD? That man deserves more respect in those circles.
