Eddie Rips Up The World Tour
The 2005 Iron Maiden tour will apparently comprise between 20 and 25 shows. It is unknown if this number represents the scope of the entire tour or only its European leg.Nothing is known about the opening date of the tour and the continents that will be visited.
What is certain, from what Bruce told the Goteborg Posten on the phone from London, is that the last show in Europe will be the Gotheburg gig at Ullevi, on July 9th (this is still in line with flying rumors that Maiden might make an appearance on Ozzfest in the USA).
Also, by looking on the various posters appearing for the announced dates, it seems pretty certain that the new tour will be called the Eddie Rips Up The World Tour.

After the Paris poster (found under the appropriate topic), here's the second one:

maiden will never play on ozzfest. they dont need no ozzy.
ozzy needs maiden.
maiden dont need no fest or festival to play the ullevi or parc des princes so why they have to need ozzfest?
dont compare iron maiden to judas priest, IM have sold nearly thrice the count of albums than JP.

Don't be so sure
I sure hope Maiden plays Ozzfest, that way they will make it back to the States.
Does anybody know who will be the supporting bands?

Megadeth?

Yeah, they are some rumours about Megadeth and Maiden doing a few shows together again.
As for the Ozzfest - it'd be the best possible move for Maiden! They would get a LOT of new fans after doing such a tour, I'm sure! And as they always want to get young fans, it could finally happen in the US! I saw Ozzfest this year, with Priest co-headlining, and they blew everyone away. Even young kids went into it and now I expect Priest to be at the top of US metal scene again. Maiden could do it as well! \m/
forget about ozzfest.
and dont forget that maiden is no support band. its more possible for that silly old ozzy to support maiden.
maybe maiden need some supporting bands that are "in" in the states like GNR in 1988.
but as i know maiden played almost all the venues that ozzfest does every year. no problem.

But Maiden only fill seats in this amphitheatres while almost every Ozzfest show there is sold out (including lawn). Maiden needs to get some media attention in the States and Ozzfest would be great for that. Not to mention loads of new, young fans. I think that's what they'd like to achieve in America.
You know, maybe Ozzy won't do Ozzfest next year or will play just for 45 mins or something like that. Anyway, Maiden would be #1 band on the bill then no matter if they play before him or not.
I don't think that Iron Maiden will play in Ozzfest because they are a band that are established. This is what I think is going to happen. Iron Maiden will tour Europe and then head to North America. They will probably be supported by Megadeth in both Europe and the United States. Megadeth just released a new album last week and they are also contracted by Sanctuary. So hopefully we can see the Mighty Maiden in the United States once again. Can't wait!

absolutely right!
maidens are twice more strong than ozzy even in the states. media attention is about marketing/management strategy. if they will come out with strong bill including new trendy bands it willbe almost same as ozzfest.
I won't claim to be an expert on this area, but I think Ozzy is more popular than Maiden in the US. And, as mentioned, playing Ozzfest will be great for Maiden, because this is exactly what is needed for people to "open their eyes" for them.
