Maiden Brings Down the Iron Curtain?

Not really news but an interesting name drop by Brock Press who recently published a news article about the death of Ronald Reagan. Heres the part of the article in question:

The achievement that has been most frequently touted in the days following Reagan's death was his causing the collapse of the Soviet Union. While it is undoubtedly true that Reagan's arms race pushed the U.S.S.R. to the verge of economic meltdown, and subsequently to the bargaining table, to say that he caused, or was even largely responsible, for the collapse of the Soviet Bloc is too simple. The U.S.S.R. and its satellite countries all had longstanding domestic resistance movements, shaky economies and, in the Soviet Union's case, a rotating leadership door in the 1980s. The youth of those countries were far more intrigued by heavy metal records, Pepsi and Lacoste shirts than they were by the idea of a workers paradise. In the end, **Iron Maiden's Eddie **may have had as much to do with the collapse of the Evil Empire as Ronald Reagan.

reagan originally used the phrase "evil empire" to describe the Soviet Union. It received a lot of publicity, and while the phrase has since been applied in other ways, most usages of the phrase still trace themselves back to reagan.
