Maiden Brings Down the Iron Curtain?
Not really news but an interesting name drop by Brock Press who recently published a news article about the death of Ronald Reagan. The youth of those countries were far more intrigued by heavy metal records, Pepsi and Lacoste shirts than they were by the idea of a workers paradise. In the end, Iron Maiden's Eddie may have had as much to do with the collapse of the Evil Empire as Ronald Reagan.</blockquote>

reagan originally used the phrase "evil empire" to describe the Soviet Union. It received a lot of publicity, and while the phrase has since been applied in other ways, most usages of the phrase still trace themselves back to reagan.
