Maiden on Top of the World: Switzerland Gig

on December 14, 2004 @ 07:53

After a leak from the number one ticket agency in Switzerland Ticketcorner.ch, the official website now confirmes that Iron Maiden is set to play in Uster at the Buchholz football stadium on the 12th June 2005, as a part of the Spirit of Music Festival, who saw Deep Purple, Scorpions and Lenny Kravitz performing last year.

Doors will open early, at 12:00. Other bands are yet to be announced.

Tickets go on sale on December 18th 2004 at 08:00 at 75 CHF (roughly 49 EUR / 66 USD). There are no categories and no age restrictions.

The intel I had wasn't totally right, but I knew the place.

I knew it was going to happen at Uster, but it was mentionned to me that it would happen during the Spirit of Music festival (2004 saw Scorpions, Deep Purple,...).

That part seems to be wrong as the Maiden show will happen in June and the festival is very early July.

Mav, do you happen to know the capacity ?

Cheers

Well, it's a football stadium, so I'd say about 30,000. But your guess is as good as mine smile.gif

I would have said roughly this. On spiritofmusic.ch, the festival website, you can judge on the pictures that the venue allows that kind of capacity.

Seems Free And Virgin lost the Swiss contract to Special Events... Means I'm going to travel more. It's friggin far. I now hesitate and might only go to Paris...

According to a report, the Spirit of Music welcomed 12000 people, not more. For it had big names headlining, I guess it gives us an idea...

I read somewhere today that last year there were 17.000 people to a gig in that stadium. Possibly 20.000 could fit in, if not more it depends if it was sell out that gig or not smile.gif

Strangely enough, the booking details for the gig have been withdrawn from ticketcorner.ch. Was it a false alarm?

Probably got a bollocking from management for leaking details early. It's on iromaiden.com now anyway

So, after all, I had a correct info, it's REALLY the Spirit of Music festival !

Let's see which other bands are set to play on that Sunday (there will surely be a first day on Saturday with another big name).

I've corrected the main news accordingly.

Cheers
