Massive Advertising for Early Days in France

on October 14, 2004 @ 00:39

According to a professional publication, the street marketing for the 'Early Days' DVD in France will be quite massive:

- 10'000 unauthorized posters will be put on the walls in the eight major French cities (Lille, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Nantes, Lyon and Paris).

- 100'000 flyers will be given out at rock and hard rock events accross the country in the first two weeks of November.

- 50'000 stickers will be given out to bikers shops, skateboarder shops, piercing and/or tatoo outlets.

For press marketing, the following is announced:

- A full page of advertising will appear in the November issues of Rock Mag, Rock Sound and Rock Hard. A half-page in Technikart. Plus, reviews across the board in all music-related magazines.

Maidenfans.com doesn't need to remind you that France has always been a strong market for the band.

Wish I could be in France for a day with an empty suitcase.

That's funny, that's not what Sanctuary told me when I offered them to translate Mick Wall's biography of the band. They said that the French-speaking market was not big enough to justify this kind of investment.

To me, all this massive marketing in France shows that this country IS a big problem, and that they need to advertise more massively there than anywhere else. (The concert at the Parc-des-Prince will be full of people from the neighbouring countries and very few French, I'm sure!)

Wouldn't you agree?

I will add to the above Marketing plan that a nice sticker advertising the new DVD is going to placed over the Maiden catalogue cds in the shops all over France and this correspong to a new discounted promotionof the back catalogue-

SURE, THATS THE NEW STRATEGY
sure they need more advertising (im working as a copywriter in advertising:) as they want to do few huge gigs
one gig for country such as france should be full of frenchmen but foreigners are welcomed (im going for sure). we have to travel to see maidens live so we are euromaidens do we
just one thing is certain:
parc will be full

yes as you say France is a big problem. The management probably think that with Bruce come back, it would be enough to boost sales. Unfortunately, there was almost not any impact on album sales. BNW and DOD sold more or less what X factor sold after a few months of release.
They really need more advertisement and not only on specialised magazines (as it has always been the case) but more generalist medias

Here in France, all the studio albums are on special offer (8,99 €) to promote the next DVD.

And in the other country ? Is it the same thing ?

Thats a new one. If we can get totalrock.com and electric basement.com to start picking up our news that would be great smile.gif Both sites used to be quite good with us in the Edge of Darkness days

Well, Metal-Temple normally gets the news from Blabbermouth... I don't know how much time they really spend looking at other sources of news.

As for Electric-Basement and TotalRock, it's the same, but they often do NOT relay the 'thanks Maidenfans' that Blabbermouth is kind to add.

Hardradio quotes us directly.

The only worrying part is that both Blabbermouth and Bravewords do not thank us as often as the past for looking for a news...

If the source isn't us, they pretend they've found it where, in reality, the news ALWAYS come an hour or so after they've probably checked our site. After all, we're still doing the work of looking for these news all around the net... rolleyes.gif

Cheers
