New BLAZE DVD, Band to Play Unplayed Maiden Songs

Posted by Shadow on December 1, 2004 @ 14:11

During B L A Z E's concert last night, supporting Whitesnake in Wolverhampton, Blaze Bayley announced that this year's Big Bash concert will contain classic B L A Z E songs, Wolfsbane and Maiden tracks they haven't played live yet. Additionaly, the official flyer says the following: "Exclusive set, featuring some previously unheard songs, some you thought were extinct and some you may never hear again! ALL being filmed for the first B L A Z E DVD!"

You can also read a review of the show here.

Sorry, but shouldn't B L A Z E do his own stuff. He's said it himself, that he's always in the shadow of Maiden.....

So why continue to play their songs?

Adding Maiden stuff to his DVD will bring more sales, maybe from people who haven't heard the band in the past. Spill over effect.

Cheers

He has played 'Sign of the cross' before, so I don't think that not being a co-writer will stop him.

Also.. I know Bruce always used to play a lot of Maiden songs on his tours.. and I think it spoilt the effect. If you go and see a solo artist, you don't expect to hear songs from their old band.

Nothing wrong with the DVD idea obviously, and I like B L A Z E, but why not play just one song or even none?

I don't see any problem with playing a few covers from bands you've played with before. Not when it's about a band like BLAZE people WANT to hear some maidensongs. But if you look at a setlist of a Blaze-gig it containes mostly blaze's own material.

True and I wasnt over the moon about that decision but the minute he starts playign the trooper is the day he'll be considered a cash in just like DiAnno. Hope that never becomes the case!

Yeah and I was very pissed off at that too but to be fair it was the orchestra and Doro who suggested Wasted Years and it wasnt BLAZE it was Blaze Bayley. Still a bit off though I admit
