New Maiden Album to be Produced in January

on October 5, 2004 @ 20:38

According to the always frank Ross Halfin, Kevin Shirley -producer of Maiden's last three CD releases- is hoping to produce some new material next January:

"He's hoping to produce the new Iron Maiden cd in January"

It remains to be seen if this will be new material or live one.

I wouldn't. Seem way too soon. Nicko is preparing some dates on the US West Coast (the info I have is really solid), so I don't see when the band will have time to reconvene and start writing new material.

Bruce also scheduled a new album for the fall of 2005, which means he'll have to work on it during the two first quarters of that year.

I'd say that if the info from Ross is correct, this might very well be live material: either a CD or a DVD. Let's remember that a 'Dance of Death' DVD was announced by Bruce himself on Headbanger's Ball in the beginning of 2004.

Cheers

Hard to say if it's good or bad: if Maiden does it, some will shout that they are just selling everything they can. If Maiden doesn't release it, some will shout that they want a DOD Live (as they want a live from every tour)....

Thats a good point, but id always be happy with live albums aswell. Maiden are amazing live as most of us know. So i wont be complaining if they do bring out live albums for every tour. Ill be very happy to say that i saw them play that live like someone else is hearing it on CD. headbang.gif

If they can do a decent job of it every album and not just have the same old songs weve heard time and time again with 6 of the best new album tracks thrown in then I'm all for it

Yep!
And as long as I can't see anything in shops - I can't believe it.
Also Bruce promised to visit Austria during DoD - Result: Nope

I'm half-for and half-against the idea of another live album. If it's a Dance of Death tour recording, it's actually mainly just the same old songs we know, with a few Dance of Death numbers. Therefore, in my opinion it'd be better to await the next album tour, play some rare songs then and release that as a live album, not the last tour. There's also plenty of good quality bootlegs around if you're dying to hear the Dance of Death album live.

They've recorded some shows during "Give Me Ed Till I'm Dead" Tour so maybe next Live DVD?

Time for something new. Time for a new producer. He doesn't have the same quality as Birch to be Maiden's "lifetime" producer.

And I agree with Halfin. Looks like self-promotion. sleep.gif

it's obviously a live cd or dvd... it's about time Maiden got a new producer and LET STEVE NOWHERE NEAR the mixing desk

Alright. First of all, I hope it's a live DVD. If anyone remembers back to when we were all making predictions for the Dance of Death tour, then you all remember we were very, very wrong. No one expected Lord of the Flies! I think we're going to see a lot of live albums, because I think we're going to see an attempt to do as many Maiden songs on album from the olden days with the three-guitar lineup. Which will rock, in my opinion.

About the production: the BNW/DoD production is, in my opinion, better than any of Martin's production. I think this is because Caveman is a great producer, and also because Steve's bringing the band's input to the mixing table.

RiR I thought had lots of room for improvement in the mixing (I didn't like how Bruce's voice was superimposed), but I do like how they cut out the senseless rants.

I hope its the Dance of Death live DVD!! I was very disappointed that it was not coming out, but instead the Early Days DVD (Not that I'm sad about THAT, its a great package), but I was looking forward to hearing DOD and Paschendale live, since I was not able to catch them during their last tour, of which I don't think they came to NC, since this is damn country music region down here!!

I wouldn't. Seem way too soon. Nicko is preparing some dates on the US West Coast (the info I have is really solid), so I don't see when the band will have time to reconvene and start writing new material.

Sounds strange.
Two releases with a gap of 2 months between them blink.gif
Why would they want to release 2 albums (of whatever they are) in so little time?
It's not that I'm not happy to get two (or at least one release if this now doesn't get confirmed) releases, but it isn't so smart in many different ways.
I think that even if an official source (band, band managment etc) says something like:
"In one year we will release a new album", it shouldn't be treated as a sure release, since things change and this may also change and then people will ask questions.

Well, we're only talking about producing an album/DVD, not the release date. Maiden might well work on the soundtrack in January, then work on the DVD menus, packaging, etc. and finally deciding to release it by the end of 2005 !

RIR DVD was edited and produced a while before the release.

Cheers
