Nicko on Upcoming 05/06 Maiden Tours [UPDATED]

on August 28, 2004 @ 10:19

Nicko McBrain phoned in at Eddie Trunk radio show on the NYC Radio last night and talked for about twenty-five minutes about McBrain Damage (and the possibility of them playing orginal material later) and the future plans of Maiden, which can be summed up in a few important points of which some are new, some are not:

- Maiden will take the rest of 2004 off, and start preparing another summer festival tour in late April/early May 2005.
- This tour will probably feature three or four weeks of touring in America, in addition to the European dates.
- They will then take the rest of the summer off.
- A new album will be written and recorded in late 2005 and released some time in 2006, followed by another world tour in the same vein as the Dance of Death Tour last year. According to a previous press release this tour will most likely feature dates in South America.

[UPDATE:] Here's a partial transcript, courtesy of Blabbermouth:

"We're gonna take the rest of the year off. We're planning on starting working late April/first week of May [2005]… We're gonna prepare a tour much like we did last year, which was the 'Give Me 'Ed... Til I'm Dead' tour, which is gonna be going out and playing the summer festivals. So we'll do a mini-tour… Hopefully in America we'll be able to come over here and play, like, maybe three or four weeks of festivals — who knows, it may be even longer, 'cause in the summertime there's lots going on — and then do some over in Europe. Then we'll take a little bit of time off at the end of the summer, and the general plan is — I'm not sure, timeframe-wise — but towards the end of next year, we'll write and record a new album. Then, I guess that will place us in 2006. [And then] we'll do the whole thing again — summer festivals and then… like we did on the last 'Give Me 'Ed' tour and then 'Dance of Death'. And I think that's the general plan. There may be slight changes in there, but you never know."

Nicko also had these words on the famous car incident last year. When asked about the current state of the affair, his response was: "It's top secret at the moment, my friend. It's still going on. I'm still in… what's the word? I still have to go to court over it. It's one of those things that happened that shouldn't have happened, but it did, and over time, you sort of look at it and go, 'Gosh, that was silly.' And the other guy that was involved with it, I'm sure he's sitting there thinking [the same thing]. But it's gone its course and it's still being dealt with, so I can't really talk about it right now."

Better not just be for the US, Maiden are spending too much time there IMO.

Although if they do play festivals of Europe they're bound to be playing download.

I'd like to point out that they didn't play much in the USA last time at all. Just two venues (one show of which was cancelled).

If it's in the same vein as the DoD-tour, does this mean that they will not only play big festivals and outdoor events, as they said before? blink.gif

Iron Maiden will play a short summer tour in 2005 (Europe WILL be included). In 2006 they will tour again supporting the new album. You all have to remember that Maiden will do shorter tours in the future.
