Ozzfest 2005 to be Headlined by Maiden ?
Bravewords reports the following:"SUPERJOINT RITUAL frontman Phil Anselmo spoke to BW&BK recently regarding the extreme nature of Ozzfest 2004 and how organisers now have the huge task job of surpassing this year’s bill with 2005’s, rumored to be headlined by IRON MAIDEN."
Previously, Nicko teased about a possible Iron Maiden appearance on Ozzfest in an interview on Q104.3 New York last Friday:
"We're gonna take the rest of the year off. We're planning on starting working late April/first week of May… We're gonna prepare a tour much like we did last year, which was the 'Give Me 'Ed... Til I'm Dead' tour, which is gonna be going out and playing the summer festivals. So we'll do a mini-tour… Hopefully in America we'll be able to come over here and play, like, maybe three or four weeks of festivals — who knows, it may be even longer, 'cause in the summertime there's lots going on — and then do some over in Europe. Then we'll take a little bit of time off at the end of the summer, and the general plan is — I'm not sure, timeframe-wise — but towards the end of next year, we'll write and record a new album. Then, I guess that will place us in 2006. [And then] we'll do the whole thing again — summer festivals and then… like we did on the last 'Give Me 'Ed' tour and then 'Dance of Death'. And I think that's the general plan. There may be slight changes in there, but you never know."

This could be why Nicko talked about 'Festivals' for the US when he talked about the coming summer 2005 tour...

cant be. i dont believe maiden would play on ozzys festival where ozzy is always the headliner. maiden would make their own festival like they did in 2000 (metal 2000)
I don't think it's Maiden's nature to play in these kind of fests Maiden do play in fests, but this is a different type of fest, it is much bigger than others and very popular.
They wouldn't accept to not be the headliners of any event.
Also, Maiden don't play so much in the US (at least, they haven't in the DOD tour).
This is just a rumour and it was hardly mentioned that there's a chance they would play at Ozzfest 2005. I prefer them to make at least one more world tour that will include more countries they haven't visited, so others (including me) will have the chance to see Maiden live at least once and not performing in fests that only one group of fans will be able to see them.

i think they will be doing their own festivals like MOR 88, 92 and metal 2000. remember that maiden are one of the biggest bands in the whole world so they cant do these kind of gigs - support someone else
managment have said that next time they will be doing few but much bigger gigs only. i think there will be short stadium/festival world tours.
maybe they will make their own fest in US like ozzy did it to cover the whole north american continent
maiden dont need no ozzfest, cos maiden always played and filled the same venues as ozzfest.
they dont need old senile wretch like ozzy at all!
