The match was amazing. The sight that met the team as we came from the tunnel was just awesome. 42,000 screaming happy fans FOR A CHARITY MATCH ! It was like watching a world Cup match. The UK team were absolutely gobsmacked.

The Italians played on the UK's nervous start and were soon 3-0 up. This was also due to a few UK "Pop stars" having no fricking idea what the offside rule was. Steve was sure that the Italians were up for revenge for the original 6-1 thrashing they gave them when they first played the charity match back for the Virtual X1 tour. Then the mighty LEGEND Ian Rush scored a penalty to pull the match back to 3-1. Then the Italian broke almost from the restart and went back into a three goal lead by making the score 4-1. Halftime and the team were a little dejected but .....

At half time they were given a fantastic sterling talk by the LENGENDARY and extremely charming Joe Jordan. What a lovely man Joe is. Then the team came out with only one thought .... to win.

However the Italians has 41,940 people screaming them on and soon they were 5-1 up. The match looked lost but somehow somebody had forgotten to tell Gascoigne and DiCanio. They were absolutely magnificent. The two of them then took the match to the italians and soon Gascoigne had scored making the score 5-2. However the Italians were not up to be beaten on their home turf and scored again to make it 6-2.

STILL the UK team ploughed on and through some fantastic work by Gazza, Paulo and steve they set up Ian Rush ofr his second and to pull the game to 6-3. the impossible looked a little closer. We were going made on the touchline and choruses of the Great Escape Anthem were heard from Joe Jordan, Rod Stewart, Rick Wakeman, Paul Young and the rest of us. It was all too bemusing for our coach for the nice Claudio Ranieri.

Suddenly steve missed an absolute sitter and you could see he was distraught. Paulo kindly came over to him put his hand on his shoulder and said " we all miss, it means nothing don't worry". Minutes later Paulo himslef missed and easy chance and he ran to Steve and said "See we all miss". This calmed Steve. With only 15,ins left this all seemed like a sad ending but .....

No sooner had we began to doubt them the UK team scored through our own hero Steve Harry Harris. 6-4 ....game on !

The next 7 minutes were true football history. I don't care if it was a charity match it was bloody fantastic entertainment and the 42,000 fans all thought so. Gazza (Paul Gascoigne) was unstoppable. He was playing like a man who was in a world cup final. He went on a run beating three players and instead of his normal looking for a player to pass to and set up he decided to shoot himself and let fly from 30 yards. It screamed into the top corner and the team just went crazy. 6-5 and 6 minutes left. Could it happen could they pull off one of the most remarkable comebacks by a charity team.

The next thing we knew the Italains had two close shaves. The first they broke only to have super hero Steve (Spandau Ballet) Norman race 20 yeards to put in a fantastic timely tackle and prevent the Itaian forward from scoring a certain goal. A minute later the Italians hit the UK post.

However .... with just 2 minutes left on the clock Steve and Johnny B's idol Paulo Dicanio finished his countrymans dreams by scoring a fantastic goal for his adopted Uk team and making the game 6-6.

Amazing the team that only 20minutes ago were 6-1 down had pulled it back to 6-6 and were now hunting the winner.

The whistle blew ...penalty shoot out.

I am so tired i will finish this tomorrow and just hope somebody does't come on and spoil it by blurting out the final result. YOU HAVE BEEN POLITELY ASKED

I know Johnny B (helped edit with steve Rock In Rio, Visions and was Video guy for Dance of death tour) took some amazing photos. I have emailed him and asked if i could have some to put up tomorrow.

I will finish this amazing match tomorrow along with some other stories
