Rod Smallwood On Massive Swedish Ticket Sales

on November 4, 2004 @ 07:29

"It's a truly incredible start. We've had great support there before but this is stepping up another level entirely. This show is not happening until next July which I think goes further to illustrate the excitement caused by the announcement of the band playing there. The tour will be the biggest tour we have ever done in terms in the number of fans we are playing to and if the reaction continues like this every show will be a truly momentous occasion," comments manager Rod Smallwood On Gothenburg's Record-Breaking Concert.

The promoter of the event and Chairman of Clear Channel Europe Music Division Thomas Johansson says, "It is amazing to be part of the IRON MAIDEN journey in the Nordics. They have such a great history here from the very first date as the opening act to KISS in 1980 to this fantastic Stadium date in Gothenburg. IRON MAIDEN are the fastest-selling rock band ever at the Ullevi Stadium. To sell 51,000 tickets in such a short period of time is a remarkable achievement."

I´m getting tired of the hype. Yeah, Maiden ARE big here in Sweden. That´s one reason, BUT they allowed 12 tickets to be sold per person, thus the "record breaking" sales. What have you got? Lots of fans without a ticket cause ´kin black market sharks bought LOTS of them. I mean, get real already. F**k.

Yeah. But they could have a limit of about 5 tickets / person. It would still sell out quick, but it wouldnt be quite as manic obviously and everyone would have a better chance at tickets.

Helsinki had a limit of 5, and though they sold out fast it wasnt as manic as Gothenburg, and Hartwell isnt nearly as big as Ullevi either, only about a fifth of it´s size

its sad that people buy the tickets just to sell on, but even limiting people to 5 tickets per person wont do anything. The sellers just use multiple accounts, have tickets sent to different address they know, and can collect them from etc. Theres always pretty much a way round these things, as annoying as it is.

These black market people are stupid fuckers making money out of true fans, and its very annoying, but wheter limits are in place or not, they will still find a way of getting hold of them to sell them on. mad.gif

Yes, they still find ways, but perhaps not quite as many.

Whatever, my original point was the "record breaking" short time Ullevi was sold out - my point is it´s not strange when people can buy 12 tickets each. F**king stupid, is what it is.
