Second Show in Finland ?

on October 29, 2004 @ 08:26

July 7th is optional date for second Finland show. Finnish promoter and Sanctuary Management have refused to give any comments.

Some rumors says, that promoter (Sauna Open Air) has tried to get Iron Maiden play in Ratina stadium (located in Tampere) for 30 000 people. Iron Maiden has refused to play in Ratina stadium, because first show is indoor arena show and Maiden doesn't have outdoor backline, when they are coming to Finland. It's easier to play two indoor shows.

But why do they say that Maiden hasn't got outdoor backline when they play other Open-Airs?

There is something strange about this: they say they don't have an outdoor backline, when, in reality they have it (Paris, Ullevi, anyone ???).

Maybe they have two stage sets (one indoor, one outdoor) and the second is already booked for a concert days ahead and cannot be put for the second show.

We will see when the tix for the first finn show will start to sell. If they do sold out very quickly, we might have new info on the situation.

Cheers

I think, that situation is, that Iron Maiden is coming to Helsinki, Finland with indoor backline, because first show is in huge indoor arena (Hartwall Areena). It's easier for them to play two indoor shows in same place than play one show in indoor arena and second show in different city in outdoor stadium. One thing is, that July 8th is travel day to Gothenburg, Sweden. There will be two shows in Finland. July 7th is optional day for Finland. It isn't travel day.

Why not cancelling the first gig, the tickets are not even on sale and make an outdoor gig. their must a free stadium or park in the country !

There is two good outdoor stadiums in Helsinki. It seems to be so, that both weren't available for Iron Maiden.

Finnair Stadium (cap. 20 000 - 22 000) isn't available for concerts anymore. It's modern soccer stadium. City noise rules are so tight for Finnair Stadium, that it's impossible arrange any concerts there. Another thing is, that local people (living near at stadium) didn't like noise of the concerts. City had to change noise rules for Finnair Stadium. It's few minutes from central railway station.

Olympic Stadium (cap. 40 000 - 45 000) is closed now for renovation. It should be open again before 10th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in August 2005 or so.

Tampere is 176km from Helsinki.

The olympic stadium renovation will be finished by july. The real reason for the gig not being there is that there is a football world cup qualifications game three days after the concert. The grass on the stadium would be totally fucked if there would have been a concert three days earlier and fifa would not allow that. That is why the gig is not held on the olympic stadium.

The second gig in Finland is indeed supposed to take place in Finland.

Can you please stop showing us how stupid you can be and start using your brain before you post here?

The first gig in Finland sold out in 45 minutes. Because so many people left without ticket, there will be a second gig 7.7. This is confimed by the promotor and Iron Maiden.

"Rod Smallwood responded, 'When we heard that tickets had gone so fast and that callers were continuing to plead for a second show, we just had to add another date.'

Tickets for this new date go on sale TOMORROW MORNING - check out the tour section for links and phone numbers." -ironmaiden.com
