Bruce Documentary to Air This Month

on January 7, 2005 @ 21:21

For this man, heavy metal isn't the only way of making noise

As the UK Discovery Channel advertises it, Bruce Dickinson's documentary series about airplanes will begin airing on Wednesday, January 19 at 21.00. The next episode will be aired on the same night at 03.30. The following episodes will air on Jan 26 at 21.00 and 03.30 and finally on Feb 5 at 14.00.

'Flying Heavy Metal' will be the rockers' guide to aviation, taking in the hits, the misses and some truly incredible planes along the way according to the channel. Indeed, Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of Iron Maiden, is a heavy metal legend. But he has another interest - he is also a fully qualified commercial pilot and a fully-fledged airplane nut.

The series, was, as previously announced by Maidenfans.com, produced by U.K.-based Ricochet. Iron Maiden rock legend and professional pilot Bruce Dickinson charts the evolution of the passenger aeroplane. The documentary is made for Discovery Channel and will be a series of five 30-minute features says the company.

Edited the news. I looked for the airdates. Only found three episodes... Strange schedule to put the third in a totally different time slot.

Also, it's possible that these will rerun on Discovery Wings (specialized channel about planes).

Cheers

Ditto, can't remember the programme though.

It still appears that the Flying Heavy Metal series will be airing only in Europe, not in the US. I just checked the Discovery Channel US website: the show is not listed, and searching for both flying heavy metal and bruce dickinson turned up no hits. So Americans like me probably won't get to see this - we'll have to be content listening to Bruce's/Maiden's albums, for now.
