Death on the Road DVD Postponed

on August 15, 2005 @ 14:22

What was suspected by Maidenfans with a flurry of rumors seems now official. The 'Death on the Road' DVD is postponed to a later date.

What Records, Maiden's online record store partner, have confirmed that the DVD release has been postponed to 19 September due to technical problems. The DVD is still rumoured to comprise three discs. An official confirmation has however not been posted.

The double CD and LP will be released on 29 August as previously announced.

It is yet unknown if the DVD will have a worldwide release or if some territories might have a further delay.

Update (August 19):
What Records informs its customers that the DVD will be released on September 19. It is unknown if it is the new worldwide date or if it's UK only.

Update (August 29):
EMI Poland has informed Polish_Eddie that the temptative release date is now October 24.

On August 29th Iron Maiden release ‘Death On The Road’, the double live album recorded in Dortmund Germany during their 2003 ‘Dance Of Death’ world tour.

This is what's written on the official Iron Maiden website. They've only mentioned the double live album, so the DVD will indeed be postponed.

Cheers

To be honest, I don't really care about this DVD. It just seems like another lazy attempt by a band desperate for it's loyal fans to depart with their money. How many live albums and best of compilations have been released when all we really crave is a new studio album? I know I will be shot down in flames for this so I am ready for an assault.

Actually, I tend to agree with you there, Conor. I don't know if it's simply about money or if this is the result of Steve's attempt to document everything, but I'm seriously getting fed up with these unnecessary releases. sad.gif

I can only say, I'm interested in this release, I will get it, but I'm more anxiously awaiting the next studio album. Maiden can release anything they want, as long as there is enough new and original material among it.
Sadly, this has not been too much the case recently.

I would love to have a live release from all Maiden tours, so I don't see any problem in this release.

I do agree with you and I think that many fans do. I don't care if the group releases tons of live material provided there's a fair amount of new songs. Actually we face a serious lack of fresh material...

This is not cheap advertisement, but information. I'll let the news team decide, though.

Topic merged. Mav is totally right.

DVDs and CDs are produced to be sold, so more often than not, news are coming from commercial sources.

It's not a cheap advertisement. It's information from sfeerkeeltsie, a member for nearly a year and a half who has posted good stuff before.

Conor, on the other hand, has been here barely 2 weeks and is already telling the mods how to do their job?!?!? blink.gif

Relax, Conor. We've got it under control. biggrin.gif

thanks for the backup dude, appreciate it!

I already wondered where my topic went though. It was never intended as commercial. I thought it was interesting because it holds information about the release date, that's why i bolded those lines!

I, for one, don't think they release enough material. sleep.gif
I would buy something every month if it were available. smile.gif
Are you afraid Eddie will get you if you don't buy it. tongue.gif
Quit your whining and cough up the dough, or not. biggrin.gif
It's your choice! Don't make us listen to your incesent bitching. mad.gif
