Face In The Sand Single ?
The rumor was debunked by Maidenfans then perpetrators admitted it. Kept for archival reasonFound on the Iron Maiden BB:
Apparently there will also be a single along with the Death On The Road'DVD/CD. I've just received this from a cousin who works at EMI Music Germany. The new single will feature Face In The Sand as orchestral version, Lord Of The Flies (live from DOD tour) and also a video of Brave New World (also from DOD tour). On the front it has printed 'For promotional use only' so I don't know whether this will be an official release or only a giveaway for radio stations to promote Death On The Road

amazing - I hope to get my hands on a copy of that Promo
I'll move this to rumours but I suspect that this is made up by someone with a copy of Photoshop and too much spare time on their hands
Moved to Maiden Rumours

just in case it's a fake - I think it'll look cool...
cool!it looked great!
For me, it's a fake : if you look closely the back of the cover, you can see :
"Face in the Sand
Orchestral version
Smith Harris, Dickinson
BMG music publishing LTD"
But, because Dickinson is one of the writters, Bruce's publisher, Warner/Chapell Music Ltd. should also have to be credited.
The guy who has made this fake has forget this little detail...
EDIT : I edit my post to say that the same mistake can be seen on the song 'Brave New World' and the song 'Lord of the Flies' is edited by Zomba music Publishers Ltd...
oh, Promos come with a barcode now? wow...
cheesy fake
Doesn't look like a real maiden cover to me, you can see it on the contour on Eddie. Yes it looks like a piece of photoshop work. But a cool pic afterall.
OK, sory, I have done it very fast, but I think that the Eddie's face is the same than in the 'Virus' Lp, reversed and a little bit bended :

I recognised it right away, too. There's more obvious reasons for it being a fake though... but I'm not surprised that the guys at the official bb fell for it.
r-e-t-a-r-d-s
Yeah I admit I recognised the eddie as an old one too though I couldnt remember which one.
If we're convinced this is fake I may as well move it to spam
Prats
It wouldn't make sense to use Face in the Sand to promote a Live CD when they've never played the song live.
Didn't notice the Eddie was from Virus - good spot.
Anyway.....Paschendale would be much believable to make as a single....if you were gonna do a fake....cos its the best song on the album.

and one of the longest, which is not really good for a single-track
concerning the cover: he didn't even use the same font for the "face in the sand" logo used for the DOD cover, same for the back
Look what i just found!!!!
ITS A FAKE!
This was on the first page of google images when I searched 'desert sand'..... how stupid, if your gonna do summit like this, atleast go a few pages in.
Of all songs why would they release this one anyway?
the back looks alot like the one from :no more lies
The perpetrators have admitted it is a fraud - check the IMBB
You have good eyes people I knew it was something with that Eddie that i've seen before Really stupid background, isn't it in the Windows Xp Pro as a wallaper too?
"my cousin who works in EMI Germany..."
i knew it right when i saw the cover, but the back was quite real but when you saw that mistake and finally found the sand on google... these bastards...
If you look closely at the bottom right hand corner there is some sort of Middle-Eastern writing. Why would Maiden put that on their promo?
No Middle-Eastern writing, it says "for promotional use only"
And answering your question: Maiden put that on their promos ´cause they´re promos, not singles
Well, that's also an idea - make a fake cover to a single and use Virus and some sand thing from google as artwork!
Actually, i thought it was a real thing when i fist saw it, but when the details now are pointed out... I can just laugh at it!
